According to the 1875 atlas, A & C. G. Merriam owned 580 acres that spanned the NE qtr of section 19, NW qtr of section 20 and southern part of section 17. It is in section 20 at the intersections of Virgina Ridge Rd, Old River Rd and Back Run Rd that seems to be where the family had their homes and barns. They had orchards there and would be the most likely spot where a cemetery if one existed would be found. In 1866 a family named Bosman owned that land so the Merriam name was associated with the land after that. By 1916 the Merriam land had been reduced to 82 acres in the southern half of the NE qtr of section 19. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
