The portion where he would have sworn that he was 21 y.o. or older has been inked out, but the document indicates that she should have been 18 y.o. or older. However I have her birthdate as 2 Feb 1828, which would have made her 16. Catherine's death certficate gives her father and mother as Nicholas Grether and Anna Hook, both b. in Germany. Other census data give Catherine's birthplace as Alsace. Are there any Hooks in the graveyard that you mentioned?
