James Wilson was a native of Pennsylvania, having been born in Beaver County, May 3, 1815. He was twice married, but his first wife died during the first of their married life. On April 30, 1837 he was married to Eva Sines who survives him, at the advanced age of 8_(?) years, and mourns the death of her life companion. To this union were born twelve children, nine of whom survive to honor their father's name and care for their aged mother. Seven of the surviving members of the family were present at the funeral which was held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, Rev. Sears conducting the services. On Sunday, Nov. 18, 1855, the First Presbyterian Church of Mechanicsville was organized by a committee of the Presbytery of Cedar, with 24 charter members. Twenty persons, who on that November day one hundred years ago, made their vows of membership in faith and with purpose, were as follows: Robert Bardue and wife, Mary; Geo. Blaney and wife, Mary Jane; James Boyles and Nancy; Andrew Elliot and Rebecca; Geo. Elliott and Parmelia; Burton Shoemaker; Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
