He was working at the age of 61 as a blacksmith, which according to family lore was his occupation while a slave in Virginia. Were there any blacksmith shops or something simular he would have worked at in Falls. The census does not list a street address. Outside of a directory would there be any documents listing when the family would have moved into the residence? I have not found any,but would there have been a book published dealing with early African Americans in that area? Working on Century Family designation. Thanks.
