Listers, I received this from another list; while many on the Muskingum list knew Dale, and her interest in genealogy and history. I pass this on for your information. dug It is with very deep sadness that I must report the death of our beloved Dale Curry. She passed away at Morrison House at 5:57pm Sunday after fighting cancer for many years. Family and friends were with her when she passed. Hillis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete at this time. I will cause a flower arrangement to be sent from the Zanesville Civil War Roundtable. Don Moody

Surnames: McClintock, Johnson, Harding, Deavers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.muskingum/6161.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This line has always been a puzzler to me. Trying to find any info on Henry McClintock has been quite a challenge, especially doing it long distance. This is all I know of my Henry: Born abt 1813 and states in census records that his birth occurred in PA. Married twice; first was Catherine Johnson who was the mother of his daughter, Jennie (b. 1842), second wife was Jane Harding that he married in 1846. Henry is found in 1840 & 1850 in Zanesville, OH 1860 he is living in Troy, Miami Co., OH 1880 they are living in Three Rivers, MI. His oldest daughter, Jennie, had an illegitimate male child named John Henry Deavers, that was born abt 1859. (I wish I knew who his father was.)In 1860 she and this baby were living in the Muskingum Co. Poor House. In 1864 she married John Euneman who then took this child as his own. That is all I know of this clan. If anyone can shed any light, it would be greatly appreciated.

There is also a marriage record of a Samuel McClintic to Margaret Dailey in Guernsey County OH 1836. There is likely a connection between Samuel, Henry (see other reply on this thread from Diane DeYoung), and my Jane McClintic. Jane and Samuel Jewett named one of their sons Henry (after Jane's brother?). Henry Jewett and his two brothers, John Noble and Samuel, were beneficiaries of a land transfer in Noble County from grandparents: Samuel and Ruth Jewett (so I think Jane McC.& Amos Jewett didn't live long). My family thinks the McClintics came to Ohio from Scotland (via Pennsylvania). Let me know if you have any insights. Thanks! Karl Beckstrand
One more thing on the Rootsweb Message board change: The “from” name and email address of gatewayed message board posts have changed from the board post author’s email address to gc-gateway@rootsweb.com. This is to protect the privacy of the board post author who may not be aware that their email address is being exposed to a mailing list and saved in the list archives. It also means that if you reply to the message with just the gateway address, no one will see it. You must respond via the link included in the post. You can use "respond to all" and manually remove the gateway address but then again only those on the list would see it and the person posting the message will not unless he/she is a list member. Hope this was clear to everyone. To All, Some of you may have noticed in the last few days that the Muskingum Message Boards have a new look as well as all message boards at Rootsweb/Ancestry.com. I have updated the links on the OHGenWeb site to work with the new system but when using these buttons or the advanced search on the boards, you are really not sure you are still in the Muskingum Board unless you look at the link on each post that tells you which board the posts was found on. They still have a few glitches in the new system but all the old links will still work so if you are finding Board posts in the list archives they will still find the post. Luckily I won't have to recode the Board Obituary and Will pages to update the links. If any of you have the Board links bookmarked, you may want to check that they still work. We will still get the board posts here through the gateway but the link will look slightly different. Just a few extra qualifiers on the end, nothing to worry about. You will still respond to any board post by clicking on the included link instead of to the list. Anyone with questions, feel free to ask me privately. I would like to call your attention to the Ohio Gravestone Photo Project and ask you to help participate in its growth as it will only grow with everyone's involvement. This site is a wonderful way to preserve the headstones of our ancestors. With the advent of time and weather and vandalism, our headstones are disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to work on preserving a digital image of our family stones as a fitting tribute to our ancestors. You can never have the names of those you are researching in too many places. The more exposure the more likely you are to find others researching the same line. They may have the answer to your brickwall. The site is relatively new and at the present time there are few pictures for Muskingum County posted. There are other sites online for tombstone pictures but none as easy to submit to as Ohiogravestones.org and there are NO flashing, popping or moving ads to have to contend with. You put the pictures on there yourself, you don't have to wait for others to do it for you. They should be up on the site and viewable within 24 hours. Additionally there is no cost to the contributor or those looking for tombstones of their ancestors, hard to find in this day and age where everything costs something. Particularly valuable are those very old headstone photos that you have in grandmas photo album. Scan them into your computer and add them to the site as they may be the only testament to your ancestors life. This would be a great place as backup storage in case of a computer crash or fire. I have everything saved on CDs but they are stored here at home. The address for the site is: Ohiogravestones.org If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Let's see if we can't make this a great source for Muskingum Co., Ohio researchers and a way to remember our ancestors. Thank you very much! Connie Hitchings Muskingum County Ohio Gravestones Project Coordinator

Rebecca Spurgeon 1774 VA was married to a man from VA and they moved to OHIO and had their children possibly in Zaneswille. Possible children are Jane, Jarvis, Elizabeth, John, William, Amos and Rebecca. The family moved from Ohio to Missouri about 1833-1836 by Flatboat, reportedly up the OH River, to Lost Creek MO. It is also said that Eilizabeth Spurgeon married Andrew Sparlin and his family also made this trip with them at the same time. Rebecca is my gr gr gr great grandmother. I am trying to find her maiden name or marriage information or her husband's first name and his birthdate/death information. I don't know why they left OH at the time they did and it would be interesting to know that as well. I am new at geneology and am trying to unpuzzle our past and find our history but don't know where to go past census information. I would greatly appreciate any kindness. Thankyou, Jayne Ann Spurgeon Bradley
