    3. I do. I checked, but they don't seem to have any papers from 1920 online yet. I put in a request, but I don't know when they'll get around to it. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 3. Denny, Even though the Times Recorder has been pulling access to their obits, we still appreciate you going through the effort of posting the links/indexes. For older obits that can no longer be accessed freely, you can still get access to them through ancestry.com on their obituary collection or through obitsarchive.com The obitsarchive.com method can get pretty pricey, but I understand lots of people might have access to ancestry through their local libraries. Keep up the good work! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

    2. Hello, I am trying to find an obit for a Julia Snack that died November 4, 1920 in Muskingum county. She was married to Bernard "Barney" Snack. Its appreciated. Ancestry.com does not have papers for the Times Recorder for that year. jamie

    1. [OHMUSKIN] Anyone researching a Samuel McCann from Ireland?
    2. Hello, I am trying to see if a Samuel McCann born April 2, 1780 and died September 12, 1855. He is buried in the McCann Cemetery which only his stone is left, I feel he is a brother to my ancestor Catherine McCann who married John Houck in 1805 in Muskingum county. According to my ancestor John Houck, he was from New Jersey. When I checked the 1850 census for this Samuel McCann his wife, Mary Hunt, (I imagine its his second wife because of age difference), said she was from New Jersey as well. I am just wondering if all these people came together to Muskingum county. I descend from John's son James Madison Houck/Hawk, and according to his census years, he stated he was born in New Jersey. jamie

    2. I am so very sorry Denny. They do not understand the valuable service you have faithfully provided to us all. It reminds me of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Do you have an address I could write them at? I realize it will probably not avail much, but I need to express my regret about their decision. Thank you Susan Schooler _ssusan372@aol.com_ (mailto:ssusan372@aol.com) In a message dated 1/6/2007 10:22:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, ohmuskin-request@rootsweb.com writes: Date: Sat, 06 Jan 2007 14:54:46 -0500 From: Denny Shirer <drdx@neo.rr.com> Subject: [OHMUSKIN] Times Recorder Obiturary Archives To: Muskingum County Mailing List <OHMUSKIN@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <459FFE86.4010806@neo.rr.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Listers, Just wanted to give you all a heads up. Seems the Zanesville Times Recorder folks have gotten greedy again and have taken down all obits that are older than two months. That means the links to the obits in the list archives that I have posted religiously, no longer work, nor do the ones in the Times Recorder Obit Index on the Muskingum OHGenWeb site. You can order these through them or get a copy of the whole paper for that day but online access has been terminated. They did this once before, when they upgraded their site and changed the way the archived data is stored making all the old links before that unusable but that was 2 years ago and all the links since then have worked, that is up until last week or so when they decided that we should have to pay for them. No use complaining, it won't change a thing. If you have access to Heritage Quest you should be able to find most of them from 6 months ago and to when they started adding the Times Recorder Obits to their files but this was a bit of a shock and I didn't find out about it until I tried to access one for another researcher. Oh Well. If you see something that might be of use to you, grab a copy while you can because I can't say how much longer they may be there. If you use my index and get a page that returns an error, then the obit is no longer online. Some are, most are gone. In the Blue Rock Cemetery, formerly known as the Old Blue Rock methodist Church Cemetery, is an old stone that Green's brother, Andrew Jackson Bain, had put up for his mother and his sister, Eliza. Eliza is on one side, Rachel is on the opposite side and a third side reads, In memory of my mother and sister. The stone is old and notes on the stone that it was erectedy by Andrew Jackson Bain. I believe I have at least a few photos of the stone, but because of the age, it is hard to get much of it very well. I believe last year when we were out at the cemetery, it took us well over an hour to get it to come through well enough to read. Green married 2nd, Francis Toll Hankison, the widow of George Hankison. George is a distant cousin to my 2nd great grandmother. Francis's grandchildren believe that she is also buried in the same plots as Green and George, but since her name was never added to the headstone, I only have the interment record which states, I believe, that she is buried in Section T (would have to double check that though).

    1. [OHMUSKIN] BOYER family of Muskingum Co.
    2. Just sharing info. I do NOT want to research the BOYER line. I have a Sara Flora Burrier that married a John Boyer. (I am a Burrier), in 1800s. My great great grandfather, Jacob Burrier (born 1809) bought land 88 acres from a J. Boyer in 1833.This was part of Flint Ridge, Hopewell area of Muskingum County. I remember someone saying that their had been quite a few tombstones on the property with surname of Boyer. Said that the dates of death was around the same date. They did not remember the date. We wondered if some epidemic was the family's demise. I do have a Boyer tree. Written by another Burrier and Boyer researcher. We shared much data with each other.. Do not send me Boyer info if it does not relate to me. I would be glad to send per computer any Boyer info I have, just request it and make sure the email I receive is either through the Muskingum Rootsweb site or put BOYER in subject matter of your email. I do not often open anything that I do not recognize. Genealogy is for sharing. That is why I am posting this. I know what a thrill it is to get a new piece of info. I might help some Boyer researcher.
