    3. This obituary appeared in The Times Recorder, Zanesville, Ohio Monday 5 February 2007. Vashti was a longtime volunteer with the Muskingum County Genealogy Society and had worked on many publications over the years. Margaret Vashti Abella, 72 ROSEVILLE -Margaret Vashti Abella, 72, of Roseville, died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, in Zanesville, following a short illness. Born Feb. 8, 1934, in Zanesville, the daughter of Leo and Bernice Tipton Bash, she was Lutheran by faith. She had worked at Mosaic Tile Co. and Hazel Atlas Co. and enjoyed bowling, having been in several bowling leagues in the area. She enjoyed genealogy and was a member of the Muskingum County Genealogical Society. Margaret is survived by five children, Emmett (Linda) Abella, Michael (Terri) Abella and Joe (Marilyn) Abella, all of Roseville, Vashti (Dan) Miller of Amanda and Jay Abella of Zanesville; grandchildren, Angie and Timmy Abella, Jason and Eric Abella, Matt and Mary Milatovich, Josh Hinkle, Brittiany Love and Colton and Cameron Abella; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Lillian Sowers, Sylvia (Chance) Wisecarver, Frank (Sue) Bash, Bernice (Kenny) Hayes, Markeeta (Clifford) Thomas, Harold Bash and Belinda (Nick) Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Abella, who died in 1994; a granddaughter, Molly Abella; three brothers, John Bash, Fred Bash and Carl Bash; and a sister, Gladys Hendricks. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 5, at the Hillis and Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, with Pastor Robert Duncan of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Are they in Muskingum Co? Rachel Pollock McVey was the daughter of Samuel Pollock and Louisa Miller. The Times Recorder (Zanesville, Ohio) - 1972, December 31: Mrs Mary White: Mrs Mary White, 93, of New Concord, died at 7:45 pm Saturday in her home, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 21, 1879, in Old Washington, the daughter of William and Rachel Pollack (Pollock) McVey. Mrs White was a life member of the College Dr. United Presbyterian Curch and was a graduate of Muskingum College. Her husband, Clair, preceded her in death in 1944, as did one son, Ralph. Surviving are four sons, William W. of Hubbard, Mac S. of Penn Hills, Pa., H. Lee of Cedarville, John H. of New Concord and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Mock Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday.

We are seeking a History Captain in each of the 33 Ohio Senate districts to ensure the entire state is represented geographically and politically. History Captains should be somewhat aligned to the political environment of the Senate district where they live. Ideally, History Captains will be made up of a broad spectrum of history-related interests - local historical societies, archaeologists, historic preservationists, archivists, heritage tourism advocates, genealogists, etc. These are some of the things a History Captain may be asked to do: § Promote Statehood Day locally § Rally local support for legislative proposals § Communicate with their local legislators § Communicate collaboratively with other Ohio History Captains Becoming a History Captain should not be a big time commitment. Ideally, History Captains will be comfortable communicating via e-mail to a local network of people willing to advocate for issues important to history groups, preservationists, etc. A protocol will eventually be created for communicating among History Captains. Program: "Introduction To Genealogy" Presented by: Ronna Eagle. Ronna Eyman Eagle, L.C.G.S.
