    2. CHRIS RUSSI
    3. SURNAMES: Russi, Mahaney Bob, Thank you for responding. I would so appreciate it if you would write to me personally at crussi5255@msn.com with specific dates of your ancestors. I would love for you to lead me to other Russi's. If it would be possible I would be so interested in the German bread recipe from your Great Uncle Ralph. German bread is so unbelievably good. I have Ralph's father's name as Louis Carl born in 1860. I believe many changed the German name of Carl over to Charles so that makes sense. My mother-in-law (maiden name - Mahaney) remembers Louis and Friedricka Russi who lived only a few houses down from them. She remembered that they had a small dairy business in their home. You mentioned the Russi's coming from Switzerland. I have visited that town. They are from a small town called Saanen, not far from Bern. I have many pictures of the town and the surrounding area. As far as we know after the Thirty Years War there were many parts of Germany where the inhabitants decreased considerably since the Protestants were killing the Catholics and the Catholics were doing the same to the Protestants. Several of these areas offered free land to folks in Switzerland (from the German-speaking areas). Switzerland, of course, remained neutral throughout the Thirty Years War was not impacted much by the war except that many folks were economically very poor during the 1600's. Many left their homes and traveled to Bavaria (now Germany) to start new lives. Several Russi families moved to the Saarland area of Germany. There are many others who stopped in the Alsace area (parts now in Germany and other parts are part of France). Most of our ancestors moved to the Kirkel/Limbach areas which is very close to Saarbrücken, not far from the France border. I have researched extensively on the Russi family of Zanesville, Ohio. I have the Russi line back to Germany and then before that to Switzerland. I had information on the Arter family until I read your entry on Roostweb. Thanks! Do you have Daisy's date of birth and death?
