    1. [OHMUSKIN] Isaac CRAMLET/Cramblet/Cramblitt (1844-1921)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mysterywisconsin Surnames: Cramlet Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.muskingum/6249/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm searching for any information on the birth of Isaac Cramlet. He may or may not be from the Rich Hill area. He was born in 22 Nov 1844, according to his gravestone. In 1862, he enlisted in Company I, 122nd Ohio Infantry. I'm attempting to track down any record of his parents. I've found an Isaac with a similar last name and similar age in the 1850 and 1860 census, but he's listed as a "Domestic", and is living with an older woman with a different name. He's next door to some Cramblets in the 1850 census, however, so perhaps his parents died prior to 1850. >From an undocumented source, I have his parents listed as George W and Elizabeth Watson. According to this same source, they had 2 other children, a John C (b. Abt. 1844) and an Elizabeth (b. Abt. 1848). So far, I've been tracking what I've found of him here: http://www.thevalleyfamily.org/getperson.php?personID=I5659310976 Thank you. 3. Muskingum County's genealogy society has many old obituaries in their library. Their collection is current from about 1970 and many people who are researching have added older obits. A project that the society is currently undertaking is cutting old genealogical abstracts including obits from old newspapers. A few years are in the late 1880's and 1890's, but mostly from 1900's to 1950's. Peg Spiker and crew are doing a wonderful job. These are also available in the library. On a person note, I usually check the Ohio Historical website to see what newspapers are available. If the years in question have newspapers, you can always interlibrary loan the films. Another great resource is familysearch.org as they have many newspapers. Since this is Perry County, I'd get in touch with Sue Saylor. If anything is available ther, she knows about it. I'd like to obtain several obits from throughout the 1900s, and wonder if there is any online source for the Zanesville paper for the obits themselves, or any index that would help in researching that time period. I know the wagon train left the Zanesville area of Muskingum County, Ohio, in the spring of 1871. This train was the second to arrive in Smith Co. Kansas. The first arrived there from Pennsylvania in the spring of 1871, and the second train arrived August 1, 1871. I know the wagons contained several families of Hammonds, several Chadwicks, some Kings, Rogers, St Clairs and Andersons. I have found no reference to any Stithem. All of the travellers settled in Smith and Osborne Counties and almost all were in the area know as 'the Valley'. Thier school district was know as district number 12. The majority of these early pioneers are buried in the Hammond Cemetery near Harlan, Kansas. The Chadwicks are buried near Portis, Kansas, in Osborne County.
