John and Elizabeth are buried in Salem Cemetery, Perry Township, Noble County, Indiana, not too far from Ligonier, Indiana. I visited the gravesite recently. Their daughter, Elizabeth, who was married to James Hall and who died in 1865, is buried between them. John died 1/10/1872 and his wife Elizabeth (Morrow) died in 1867. I suspected that John Hamilton and James Hamilton (b. 1807) were related. James and his wife Catherine are also buried a short distance from John. And I had documented evidence that the parents of James Hamilton were Arthur and Mary Hamilton. James and John both came to Noble Co. in Indiana approx. 1835-36. But I was not able to document the connection of John to Arthur Hamilton until I found your imput on this listing all of the children of Arthur Hamilton. Where did you get this information? I would be interested in knowing any other info that you have about this family. (Robert Hamilton was my gggrandfather). I live approx. an hour away from Noble County. I'm glad my information was of some help to you. I, also had found the 1850 census and was wondering how the Kipps that Henry Untiedt lived with were related to him. How wonderful that you were able to visit Ladbergen, Germany. I would love to be able to visit places that family had come from. When you figure out how Herman Heinrich Untied was related to your Kipp family, maybe these things will provide you with more leads. I put these things together from various sites, and a lead someone else passed on to me: Herman Heinrich Untiedt's parents: Father: Herman Heinrich Untiet b: 1783 Ladbergen Mother: Anna Christina Elsabein Wibbeler b: 7-27-1790 Ladbergen Married 8-12-1814 Herman Heinrich Untiet Sr.'s parents: Father: Johann Untiet b: abt 1749 Mother: Christina Ruthemeier b: abt 1749 Married: abt 1782 Anna Christina Elsabein Wibbeler's parents: Father: Johan Wilhelm Wibbeler b: 9-15-1748 Ladbergen Mother: Anna Liesabeth Kuck b: 9-18-1746 Ladbergen d: 2-27-1820 Married: 11-13-1774 Johann Untiet's parents: possibly: Herman Untiet and Maria Schnaatbaum (spelling??) It would be wonderful to someday fill in missing information on these people or find some new names. I also sorresponded with a lady who mailed me a copy of a map of Jefferson Twp in Muskingum, Ohio in 1875. It shows land parcels and is labeled with the family names of the owners. 2 of the parcels have the Kipp name. There is one for Henry Untied next to one of them. Henry Untied's second wife, Catherine's last name was Schumacher. A parcel nearby was owned by a Schumacher, and 2 parcels were owned by a J W Mortimer (John Wesley). His daughter Mary Jane Mortimer married Henry Untied's son Charles Owen Untied. If you would like me to copy this map for you, e-mail me direct at kathud3336@msn.com with your address. My mother's maiden name is Kipp. My gg-granfather was Hermann Wilhelm Kipp b:12-17-1816. In a recent trip to Ladbergen I found the record of his immigration in 1845 to the USA with his wife Chistine Elizabeth and two young sons. I also have their arrival record to the port of Baltimore on September 15, 1845. In the 1850 census they were living in Jefferson TWP Muskingum County Ohio. In the 1850 census they had three more children for a total of 5 in 1850. This is the interesting part. Also living with them was Henry Untiedt, age 34, laborer, born in Germany and Henry Untiedt, age 3, also born in Germany. >From your post this matches up with your information on Herman Heinrich Untiedt b:9-17-1815 in Ladbergen. I can now understand why they were living with the Kipps. Maybe Catharine Kipp b:6-6-1810 that died on the voyage to America was the older sister of Hermann Wilhelm Kipp b:12-17-1816. And maybe her father Wilhelm that also died on the voyage was also the father of Hermann Wilhelm Kipp b:12-17-1816. If you have any additional Kipp info that would be great. Also I did not have much time last week in Ladbergen due to a business appointment in Dusseldorf. I spoke to the Restaurant Mollers Hof restaurant owner and he suggested that there was a Untiedt that was knowledgable on the Ladbergen history. I am thinking to return to Ladbergen and stay a few days. Any suggestions you have for the visit would be great. Since I've hit a brick wall on my own ancestors, I'm searching for collaterals in hopes of getting back on track. I'm looking for a James DONNELLY who had a probate (admin docket) record in 1844 in Muskingum County. His administratrix was Ann DONNELLY. This small mention (which I found on LDS microfilm #865159, docket B, p. 190) gave no other people's names, and I would like to find more on these DONNELLYs. It did not list the date of death, just a year (1844). I have the case number (#2185), but I don't know if any more information will be available elsewhere in probate. Is the Admin Docket all there is? I don't know if this James DONNELLY is a collateral relative, but he died in 1844, the approximate year that my Catharine DONNELLY in Richland County, Ohio, had her last child. I had been thinking James could have been her husband, until I saw the name Ann Donnelly as the administratrix. My DONNELLYs were born in New York but moved to Ohio about 1840-41. I don't know Catharine DONNELLY's husband's name, and in the 1850 census of Hanover Twp, Ashland County, Ohio, she is head of household and has nine children. A few of these children are also found at the same time in Ashland County and Knox County in other households in the 1850 census, so I think Catharine was a widow or was abandoned, and had to farm-out the children to make ends meet. I saw that DONNELLYs were on pages 359 and 424 of the Biographical History of Muskingum County Ohio, and perhaps someone could check on whether these could be related. However, I know there were other DONNELLYs in the 1850 census of Muskingum County, and I don't think they were related because they weren't born in New York. So I hesitate to buy the book if there's not much chance they are related. This is the only family name I'm seeking in this county. Any help and ideas will be appreciated. I'm really having trouble finding Catharine's husband's name and getting any further, as the children's death certificates had conflicting or "unknown" parents names, and civil war records of a son didn't list parents or siblings. Thank you. Jen

I have not researched this line myself yet, so I can only atest to the fact that Thamers sister, Maria S. married John McCaslin/McCashland and that she supposedly has a brother named Thamer. Thats helps so much. As for the children being born in Maryland, it may be that they were there, with Arons family. His brother, was still living in 1860, as was his sister-in-law. And at this point, I am assuming, that Aron and Sarah, came to meet in Ohio, because he was possibly living with a sister, who married a Bateman there, who's family was from Maryland. So I assume at this point that Aron was staying with them, in Ohio. Anyway, its possible that his children were born in Maryland. A nephew of his, married into my Hays line, while in Illinois. Which would explain, why the nephew was in Illinois. I always wondered how he came to meet my great-great-great grandmother. Now I have a plausible explaination. Thanks so much. This gives me loads to run with. You are an angel! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Did not find Sarah(or Frances) Grosh in 1860 census. Possible that Martha and Henry are children of Aaron and Sarah, although census says theey were born Md. That could be a census taker error on place of birth. You might try postings in Henderson County. Might be birth records, and a death record if Sarah died there.
