I remember him pointing out where the school used to be, but it was razed before I was old enough to remember (I'm now 59). I do have a picture of it, in a paper weight. I'm at my second home now, will have to look for the paperweight and see if I can take a photo of it when I get home at Christmas. I attended Monroe School in Zanesville grades 1-5. Would love to see a picture of it! I know it was razed sometime after the freeway was built, when Zanesville re-developed that area. Isn't Grover Cleveland slated to be closed and torn down? I seem to remember hearing that. I went to junior high there, after finishing grade school at Wilson. Your site will be fascinating when it's done! This year it is being used for the Jefferson Grade School while a new one is being built on the old grade school site. I understand that in the summer of 2008 it will be torn down. Pioneer School was just closed. It is now a private home. The old grade and Middle schools of Zanesville are being replaced with new modern ones. McKinley, Munson just to name a few. Notes for THOMAS MORTON: In "The vital records of Old Bristol and Nobleboro in the County of Lincoln, Maine", Thomas is listed as Thomas the 2nd when his marriage intentions were filed. There are two other Thomas' listed in the marriage records; Tho(ma)s and Vaney Gelkey of Long Island, intentions, June 10, 1792 and Thomas and Betsey Studley, May 6, 1800. I feel like there is a possibility that Thomas may be child of Thomas and Vaney (Sylvina) Gilkey. Even though most of the family moved to Ohio, there were children of this couple who married in Maine (most of them in Northport.) Do you know of any descendants of Thomas Morton and Nancy Upham who may have migrated to Ohio? The reason why I feel that Thomas Morton could be a son of Thomas Morton and Sylvina Gilkey is because I have identified almost all of the children who fit the sexes and age groups of the children in the 1810 northport, Hancock County census, except one boy who falls in the same age group as your Thomas Morton who married Nancy Upham. It is definitely worth looking into. As you know from the marriage "record" of Thomas and Sylvina (Viney) Gilkey, Thomas Morton was from Bristol; however, I do have evidence of a deed transaction between John and Sylvine Gilkey and Thomas Morton for a parcel of land in Northport, Hancock County. John and Sylvine are the parents of Thomas Morton's wife. I sure would love to pursue this connection further with you and look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.     3. Hello, I am searching for a death date and obit for Nora Nutter. She resided in the Roseville area that is part Perry County and part Muskingum County. The date of death may have been in 1914. She was born in 1874 and was the wife of Charles L. Nutter. Any assistance will be appreciated.
