Hello, My name is Laurie Whitney Skillern and I have been trying to find information on my Great grandfather William Whitney b. 1821 Oh. He married 1841 in Athens County. There were no Whitney's living in Athens Co. in 1840. I have reason to believe he was a grandson of either Jonathan Whitney of Washington Co/Morgan Co or of James Whitney of Washington County. Both are listed in Washington County before 1820. According to the 1880 census William's father was said to be from Mass and mother from Ohio.
