>From the McConnelsville Herald, 3 October 1873 Fred Douglas lectures at Marietta on the 7th inst. Beverly Bozman, of Athens, is visiting his friends here. He is in a cigar factory. Jasper J. Israel has bought S. B. Robinson's grove property at Beverly for $4,300. Cyrus Roberts, Esq., has been seriously ill with Billious fever, but is now able to attend to business. Mr. William Janeway, of Junction City, was married on the 18th ult., to Miss Anna E. Erick, of Zanesville. Mrs. E. M. Stanbery, Mrs. A. D. Havener, Mr. H. D. Miller and Mr. C. V. Arrick attended the Cincinnati Exposition last week. Mr. William Hunter, of Rockville, was married on the 18th ult. to Miss Mary Shilling. Little pounders will be next in order. Mr. L. B. Burckholter and Miss Carrie Hawk, of Zanesville, were licenses for matrimony last week. - No cause assigned for the rash act. Mr. J. M. Edwards and family, of New York arrived here on a visit Saturday evening. The metropolis agrees with them physically and financially. B. Shaw, W. B. Shaw and wife, Thoe. Devol and wife, Chas. E. and Miss Ida Baldwin and Miss Mary M. Robinson, all of Beverly, are on a Western tour. Mr. Joseph Wilson, with the Central Trading Company of Pittsburgh, is home on a visit. Mr. Brown, of Athens, whose death is noticed elsewhere, was a son of Judge A. G. Brown, of Athens, and son-in-law of Edwin Corner, Esq., formerly of this place. Mr. George Atwood with his sister, Mrs. Wood, and his family, of Broome County, New York, has during the past two weeks been visiting Mr. Hial Dunsmoor and family, of Malta, Mrs. Dunsmoor being Mr. Atwood's sister.
