Another Thomas Ross listed in the Morgan County, OH 1850 census is in Homer Township. I'm sorry I don't have the exact page number, but I have this information in 1993 handrwritten notes from Ruth Hart, Morgan County Chapter of OGS. 1850 Homer Township Thomas Ross, 27, b. VA Margaret, 21, b. VA Catharine A, 1, b. OH Thomas was the second husband of Margaret Van Horn. Her first husband was James McElfresh. The Catharine listed on this census is actually a step-daughter of Thomas Ross. Thomas Ross and Margaret McElfresh were married May 8, 1850 in Morgan County, OH. To follow up on Shannon Moore's thoughts that Mrs. Ross' maiden name was possibly Harper, the Morgan County, OH marriage records should be checked for a Ross/Harper marriage. You may want to research the possibility that the Thomas Ross of Homer Township could be the father of Thomas Ross, b. 1843. Perhaps he was married previous to his marriage to Margaret. I don't have any further information on the Ross family, but I do know that Thomas and Margaret Ross were in Clackamas County, Oregon on the 1860 census. Cheryl Arver
