One word about the Mormon records, they are a great place to get leads but never take all the information as the God's truth as I have found errors in them after checking 2 or 3 more sources. One family I have had an extra child in it in the Mormon files but after much research I found that that child was not a child of that family at all. Never take just one source before leaving it and saying "OK" I have found that now move one. Even death records, birth records and others need to be verified from more than one source. I have found this out in my 25 years of researching. I did not mean to stir up a bee's nest only saw messages which were bashing researchers in Morgan Co. and thought that everyone might not know the situation there. All those who have done work there are to be commended for all there hard work. Thanks for all the comments and I have learned somethings which I did not know. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------5744A778DD8078AB3B565C0F Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The LDS Church does not check, repeat DOES NOT check any of the records that are submitted to the ancestral file. Those are the responsibility of the person submitting them which can be an individual; a family meaning all the siblings of a couple; or a family organization composed of thousands of descendants of a 18th century marriage. Neither does the Church check all the records in the IGI if, AND I AGAIN REPEAT IF, they are submitted by a person. They can only be submitted by a person to the IGI, not an organization or all the siblings, although several people or an intire family organization may have work on the different branches of a family, they are still submitted under one person's name.. THIS IS IN CAPS TO DRAW ATTENTION TO IT AND TO EMPHASIZE IT, IF, IF, THE ITEM IS EXTRACTED FROM AN ORIGINAL RECORD MEANING A BIRTH RECORD OR A MARRIAGE RECORD OR A CHURCH CHRISTENING RECORD OR ANY SIMILAR RECORD THEN THAT RECORD IS CHECKED AND RECHECKED AND IF A CONFLICT IS FOUND, THEN IT IS RECHECKED A THIRD OR FOURTH TIME TO GET IT RESOLVED FROM THE ORIGINAL RECORD. Dawn Finley made this comment BELOW & she is 150% correct, the LDS Church records submitted by people from all over the earth have errors in them. Those records are sent to us by people from all over the earth, especially people who want their life's work saved somewhere. Many of us have children who could care less UNFORTUNATELY about what we have spent a lot of time doing, but some day they may want to know and the records will be on the Ancestral file for them to look at. It goes without saying that a lot of us do a lot of things in our lives, restore cars, restore homes and buildings, involved in animal rights, or civil rights, or teachers or professors, writers, home makers, MOTHERS, the small jobs that have to be done to make the world a better place to live in, such as farming, electrical workers, water rights, and in this world there are a lot of slaves, and mis-treated children in every nation on earth, mis-treated human beings and animals, but those are the legacy we leave the next generation. Some of us spend time looking for this genealogical information and that is the legacy we can leave our grandchildren and great grandchildren. Finally, I must not overlook, FATHERS. I am the father of eight, great children. The youngest is now 12 and fights for his right to live with every breath he takes. He is terminally ill, I know, he know it, all of his siblings know it, but the most important thing we leave is our descendants we the MOTHERS AND FATHERS in this world. Where is Buckeye land do you hale from Dawn?
