    1. [OHMORGAN-L] 1860 Census - Costan Anderson
    2. Laurence E. Dickerson
    3. I am seeking information on Costan Anderson, who is listed in an index of the 1860 census as a resident of Penn Township in Morgan County [page 429]. Is there anyone on the list who has access to a copy of the actual census and would be willing to look up his household? He should have a wife named Elizabeth [McCoy], but I do not know whether they had any children. There is no entry for Costan Anderson in the 1870 index, nor for an Elizabeth in Morgan County. I know they were both still living in 1867, but know nothing of them after that. Is there, perhaps, an entry for them in a Morgan County cemetery book? Are there index books to county wills or death records back that far? The earliest death records I have been able to consult go back only to about 1897. Larry Dickerson

    3. Good afternoon, My 4th grgrandfather Jeremiah Hughes was married to Julia Anna Hardi(e)n 12-8-1836 in Morgan Co. ( I do not have a document to prove it) In 1844, Jeremiah purchased land in Allen County Ohio from a William Hughes & wife Iney or Ivey(hard to make out the spelling). Would anyone have a William Hughes that lived in Morgan Co. then? Thank you for any help on this William or Jeremiah Hughes. Gloria jgmott@wcoil.com

That marriage, however, isn't listed at familyserach.com which means it probably either didn't occur in Morgan Co. or anywhere else in Ohio or else it did but wasn't recorded. >> I don't know to whom the above was directed but I do not believe the premise is correct. The statement implies that every marriage recorded in Ohio is listed on FamilySearch.com. Only a fraction of the records that I have found in court houses and libraries have been posted on FamilySearch. It is a great resource but it does not contain all the records. Bill O'Neil

This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------F4A3F7E0FA09B6E92C7D4D45 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I checked all the marriages of Morgan County from 1820 through 1861 and there is no Ephraim Bates listed. Morgan County was erected in 1818 and established in 1820. There is no Ephraim Bates listed in the 1980 history of Morgan County nor in Roberterson's 1876? history of Morgan County. The IGI should have it if it occurred before 1875 anywhere in Ohio AND they were not Members of the Society of Friends known as Quakers. Quakers do not record mds. in the govt. offices. Morgan County has a large number of members of this church in Chesterhill. 3. Traci I don't know the answer to your question bur have a suggestion. PERSI lists that both the Noble Co Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (Newsletter Vol 2 Issue 2 Apr 1985) and Monroe Co Genealogical Society published articles on Ephraim Bates Revolutionary War Soldier. This gentleman might be an ancestor of the Ephraim you seek. Suggest you look at the articles and see if they give clues. 1820 US Census OH Morgan Co Noble twp lists Ephraim Bates page 083; 1840 & 1850 list an Ephrain in Monroe Co Union twp & 1850 Guernsey Co Seneca twp lisys an Ephraim. 1860 MI Lapeer Co MI Atica twp lists a Phoebe Bates. I dont have any other info about them so dont know if these are yours trace97@jps.net HBCRAFTERS@aol.com wrote: > Good morning!! > > I am looking to find a marriage record in Morgan County, and I am totally > unaware of how to locate it. 2. Tracy, Yes, they were kept that early. That marriage, however, isn't listed at familyserach.com which means it probably either didn't occur in Morgan Co. or anywhere else in Ohio or else it did but wasn't recorded. We just had lots of discussion of vital records on this list. If you missed it, you can go to rootsweb, under mailing lists click on interactive search and go from there. You might also want to do the same with the Bates list. Keren

A federal archive branch and a fairly decent FHC and city library (with an active geneological society) in the city where I work. (Anchorage AK) As for weather. Could you please send some snow this way and soon???? We have had less than 7 inches all year. And now the temperatures are above freezing and we have been getting rain that then freezes.
