    2. Thanks for letting me know about the mistake. This just came with some more addresses so sending it out again. I wrote that the hobby was a fast growing one that was giving many more people pride in their country and ancestors and how much history we were learning and that this was our last resort in many cases to learn maiden names of women. Also emphasized what a handicap it was to so many of the new friends I have made who are housebound and on low budgets and that this will greatly decrease their ability to participate in their new found friendships and hobby. For those not knowing. President was spelled wrong in the one I sent before so unless you retyped it it bounced. 3. This list is separate. The genconnect boards and the message boards/lists of myfamily are what they are talking about. I just sent the message as there are several researchers for the county that post information to the obit, query, will, deed, etc boards along with surname boards that read this list. Several people have already asked me what's happening and I thought I'd pass along what I presently know. Sorry I don't know any more than that, and I'm an administrator of the Morgan Boards. 3. I'm wondering if anyone that is researching the SCHUMAKER/SHOEMAKER or RILEY family have run across William D Riley married to Elizabeth Shoemaker in 1861 in Morgan Co, OH. William D was born about 1836; Elizabeth about 1843 (give or take a few years as these are from only one census.) They had the following children: Harry, Hamilton, William, Cara, Edward b 5 Mar 1870 Muskingum Co, OH; ; Gilbert b 27 Apr 1873 Muskingum Co, OH, Emma, and Annie. They moved to DeWitt Co, IL between 1876 and 1878. If this group sounds familiar or you have any clues. I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd love to find out William's heritage and also Elizabeth's. 2. Laurence E. Dickerson
    3. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to get to Emery Cemetery? When I tried to find it in 1998, I could not find a road that led to it - everything route I tried was blocked by coal mining. I would like to get back for another try this summer and would appreciate it if anyone knows of a road that is accessible. According to the list of burials for that cemetery which I found at the library in McConnelsville, Sidney (McCoy) Counsel) is buried there. She was born c. 1795 and died 30 March 1870. I presume her husband, William Counsel, is also buried there, though I did not find him on the list. He probably died before 1850 as he is not on that year's census. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Larry Dickerson

    3. I have come across a reference to David Howard and Rebecca Dickerson Howard being buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Bristol Township, Morgan County. Does anyone have a list of the burials there and are David and Rebecca really there? Dates given for David are 18 June 1765 - 26 January 1843. Dates for Rebecca are 8 April 1774 - 16 January 1839. Are there any other Howards buried there who might fit the time span to be children of Rebecca and David? Where in Bristol Township is Mt. Zion Cemetery? Thank you, Larry Dickerson

    3. Hi: I am looking for any information on the Asa family. My great great grandfather, William Asa married Elizabeth (Betsy) McVeigh and they lived in Windsor Township, Morgan County, as far as I know. So far I haven't been able to take the family back any further. There are stories that they came from the British Isles and settled in Virginia, West Virginia, or Kentucky before coming to Ohio. It has been suggested that John Asa and Sarah Davis were the parents of William Asa. William was born about 1795. I wonder if any one has that Census and could see if they could find any Asa or McVeigh families in Morgan County. Also, if anyone knows anything about the Asa family, please let me know. 1. [OHMORGAN-L] 1880 Census
    2. Haybron Adams
    3. The entire 1880 census of the United States plus the index was released on Friday, June 1st. You have one index for the entire nation, every person listed in the census. This is not just a head of family, but it is every person in every state or territory in the present 48 states. It is a typed copy, not a difficult to read original. The index tells you which CD to insert. There are 52 CD's. The first 20 is the index. You can sort by first name, last name, by state or by county, by occupation, by place of birth. The cost of the entire census is $45.00 and there is no tax. For those of you who wish to know how to order for your library --some of you that are receiving this message have interest in family research and I am telling you so that you can tell your local association or library-- you can order it from the LDS Distribution Center, Salt Lake City, Ut. 84150. That is probably not the most direct address, but it will get to them. Also, you may want to look on line at FamilySearch.com to see if you can order it on line. I just purchased it and so did not have to know how to order it. Again, it is only $45.00 for 52 CD's. It is every person listed in the 1880 United States census. One Cd holds all the records for every state and territory from Colorado to the west coast, but it takes 4 CD's for Pennsylvania. Happy Searching. You can create a list of everyone in the data base with the name of Elizabeth or William without even any last name at all. Take a guess how many there are. I don't know, I have not done the search.

    1. [OHMORGAN-L] Putnam Grays / Quakers 1830s-1840s
    2. I have come across letters that were written in the 1830s-1840s. They are fascinating and, while I haven't connected them to one of our families, I am hopeful. If anyone has heard of the Putnam Grays or has any information on religious groups (possibly Quaker), I would appreciate it greatly. Most of the letters are to and from Cyrus M. Brown(e), Susan Lukens Brown, and Elizabeth Brown. Cyrus Brown was born in Vermont in 1812 and then lived in Zanesville and Deavertown, OH. Susan Clark
