There is a map of the current townships of Morgan County on the genweb site. Where can I find a copy of map of the townships of Morgan County prior to 1851, when part of it split off to become Noble County? Linda
I need help verifying a discrepancy in my research of a Morgan Co family. If anyone has access to the 1900 census, could you please look up this family and tell me who is in the household. I am looking for Jemina ROBINSON, age abt 47 in 1900. I think they were in Marion Twp., husbands given name unknown, and he may have already died. They had four children, and all would have been adults by 1900. I have located Charles and Della in the same household, but Jemina may have been living with one of the other two children, Earl or Samuel, especially if her husband died before 1900. Or she may be listed with the husband. I am especially interested in ages and birth years of Jemina, and her children. I would appreciate any information someone can come up with for this family. Thanks in advance. Dar at dhackle@ix.netcom.com
According to my HANDY BOOK FOR GENEALOGISTS published by The Everton Publishers, Logan Utah--Ohio was organized as a territory in 1799, and in 1803, Ohio became a state. HISTORICAL REMINISCENCES OF MORGAN CO., OH by Hon. James m. Gaylord reprinted from The Weekly Herald, McConnelsville, OH 1932, reprinted by the Morgan Co. Hx/Gen Society April 1984, pg. 5: "...Commissioners, E. CUTLER of Washington county, and Mr. LYBRANT of Pickaway county, in 1818, located the county seat (of Morgan Co., OH) at McConnelsville; Colonel David ROBB, the other commissioner, dissented."
I have a note that refers to the death of Elizabeth STRAIN ROBB who died abt 1778 in McCell, Morgan Co., OH. I would love more information on either of these surnames or people. Her husband was Samuel ROBB. Thanks in advance, Jean

Hello Listers, IM new to this list. I am researching the McCARTY family and associated surnames. Kathy "Kath" (Burden) Shaffer Omaha, NE >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^< >^,,^<
Dear List members, For several months now, we have been posting historical data about many of the Primitive Baptist churches across the northern states, to a website, which is designed in a manner to try to help students of church history and also family history researchers. We have included surnames of members as far as they are available to us, although that is only a fraction of the names we would have if all the records were available to us. A great deal of time is required to prepare lists of members, enter them in our database, correct and improve them, etc. After 15 years of such work, on a volunteer basis, we now have over 30,000 entries, and have the records at hand to greatly increase that number. If you would like to review our website, or the page for the several counties we have done work on, in Ohio state, you may go to either of the following URL addresses shown below. Please write in our Guestbooks, and let us know if you think we can help, or if you can help us, on any of the information presented. We would appreciate any help that people can provide, such as historical sketches in County histories, location of church records, photographs of meeting houses (churches), association minutes, etc. Here is our main homepage: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Here is the page for Family History Assistance in Ohio (it is still in progress - not complete) http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist-NY.html (make sure the whole line -including the ".html" at the end is intact - the URL is lengthy and tends to break down into two lines. Thank you kindly, Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Vern, I have some information on a Lydia Fawcett, daughter of Richard and Mary (Williams) Fawcett. Lydia was born 15 Jul 1826 according to the records of Stillwater Montly Meeting of Friends (Quakers), Belmont County, Ohio. (Genealogical information from these records and records of Morgan County Quakers are published in volume 4 of William Wade Hinshaw's _Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy_, hereafter EAQG.) Lydia's first husband was Amos Romans. Their marriage took place at Plymouth, Washington County, Ohio, and appears in the records of Chesterfield MM, Chesterhill, Morgan County, Ohio, as extracted in EAQG. Chesterfield MM records also record the death of Amos Romans on 14 May 1847. They had one child, Mary W, born 13 Mar 1846. Lydia married again on 30 Oct 1856 to Aaron Roberts. He is my 3g grandfather by his first wife Matilda Farquhar. Aaron and Matilda had five children. Aaron and Lydia had four children. In the spring of 1865, Aaron and Lydia moved to Cedar County, Iowa, where at least two of her brothers lived, bringing their children with them. The train was full of soldiers returning home from the Civil War, and the children caught measles. The oldest stones at the Hickory Grove Cemetery near West Branch, Iowa, are of four Roberts and Romans children who died the summer after their arrival. These include Mary, b 1841, and Sarah, b 1848, daughters of Aaron and Matilda, Mary W Roman, mantioned above, and Matilda, b 1857, daughter of Aaron and Lydia. Evidently the family in Iowa stayed in touch with the old neighborhood in Morgan County, Ohio, for in 1873, Stephen Smith of Chesterhill, son of Thomas K and Elizabeth (Starbuck) Smith, made the trip to Iowa to marry Elizabeth, daughter of Aaron and Matilda Roberts. Stephen and made their home in Morgan County, Ohio. They are the common ancestos of the members of the Smith Family Reunion Association, whose meetings every two years draw about eighty attenders for a weekend together. I have Amos Romans listed as a son of Isaac and Mary, but did not know his mother's maiden name. If she was indeed a Fawcett, it seems likely that she was raised in Frederick County, Virginia. EAQG includes a volume of information from Virgina, but I cannot recall for certain which one it is--perhaps volume 6. Hopewell and Crooked Run meetings were in Frederick County. It does not appear that Mariah Fawcett who married Abraham Roman was a sister or half-sister of Lydia. Without any evidence, it seems likely to me that the Roman(s) family also lived in Frederick County. Mary Williams, the mother of Lydia Fawcett, was one of seven daughters of Daniel and Mary (Humphrey) Williams whose descendants I am attempting to trace. I currently have names of more than 4400 descendants and 2200 spouses. You can see what I have for the first six generations at <http://showcase.netins.net/web/treadway/genealogy/index.html>. Contact me for further information if you see anyone you recognize. Hope this helps. Dan Treadway On Thu, 16 Aug 2001, E. Vernon Buck wrote: > Hi All, > > I am new to this list.
