I am Searching for the family of Sarah Ann Work b. abt 1822, Belmont or Morgan Co.,Ohio. She married John Eveland in Morgan County, Oh. March 14, 1845.There is no death record of Sarah but she is buried in Hocking Co., Oh., no dates on her tombstone. Census has her living with son John Eveland in 1900 and her parents as being born in New Jersey, but no reference of her in 1910. So her death was in this 1900-1910 time frame. There were Work families of John Work, David Work , and Robert Work in Morgan County in the 1820-40 era. Did these Work men move into Fairfield Co? And are they the sons of Joseph Work of Fairfield Co.? Are there any Work families still in Morgan Co.? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lona
Thank you to all of the wonderful helpful people who helped my locate the county where Crooked Tree was in 1832! - Pattie

Use Filby's Passenger and Immigration list to determine when they arrived in the USA and then tract them to the boat. The boat listing may give you the place in Ireland. 2. Use naturalization papers in the county court in any of the counties. 3. Use the Parish records for the Catholic Church especially in Perry County. 4. Since the Irish rebels burned the Post Office buildings in the 1920 revolt, many many records for Ireland went up in smoke. There is a guide to surnames and surname locations --i.e. what Parish you would find "x" name in. Look in the Family History Catalog under Ireland for help getting to it. I'm not a Irish Researcher, but this is fairly common knowledge among Irish Professional Researchers and you should be able to locate it in the FHL catalog. Don't forget to check various spellings, e.g., Dougan. Nettie Dougan was a very good genealogist in Morgan County and might have been able to assist you. Maybe her research is in the Genealogical Room at the Kate Love Simpson Library in McConnelsville. Log onto some of the Irish Genealogy Web sites might assist you. Do you know if anyone in the family has a family Bible that was kept during the 19th c.? "Michael S. Sarah Jane Dugan married William Boal in 1850 in Perry County, Ohio. Based on that years census info, Sarah would have been born around 1832 in Ireland. In 1850 there were many Dugans living around Perry, Morgan, Muskingum and near Athens County, Ohio. Where in Ireland might these Dugans have come from. I'm trying to track Sarah Jane Dugan's parents etc. Thanks, Mike Beckley at msb@ core.com
I want to thank all of the people that have responsed to my inquiry. I have not seen a lot of activity on this list for a while so I did not expect much action. I did make a connection with one response. I located Dearborn (Durbin) and Rachael Longfellow in Noble County in 1860. At the Library of Congress I found a Thomas Morris in Morgan County that married a Seleaney Longfellow on the same day and by the same minister as a Rachael Morris married a Dearborn Longfellow. I have a definite identification of my Thomas Morris in the 1850 Jefferson County Ohio Census. I started looking for Thomas Morris in the 1840 census in Ohio. I located a Thomas Morris in Morgan County 1840 census that had children that matched the ages of his children from his first marriage listed in 1850. Some one from the Morgan list provided a marriage record for a Thomas Morris and a Seleaney Longfellow in the 1830s. I can not check that for sure right now because my genelolgy materials are packed up in preparation of my move next week. What I want to do when I go to Morgan County is to locate a grave for Seleaney Longfellow Morris and one infant child. I also hope to locate information on the family in church records or old newspapers that might help identify the family. Many Thanks again, Corlee Morris

To those working on Morrises in OH. I have a William Roach who married Amelia Morris (I think in Louden Co. as both were born there,) Many of the Roaches went to Morgan and Noble Co.. Hi Carlee, You may want to check "The History of Noble County, Ohio" edited by L. H. Watkins, 1887. There are lots of MORRIS's listed (including several references to "Thomas"), and also a Durbin Longfellow (perhaps another spelling for Dearborn?). Noble county was formed in 1851 from parts of Guernsey, Morgan, Monroe and Washington Counties. Good luck in your search. -Pattie ----- Original Message ----- From: Corlee Morris <HMorris575@worldnet.att.net> To: <OHMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 3:12 AM Subject: [OHMORGAN-L] Geneology Resources In Morgan County > I plan to go to Morgan County this summer to do research.
