    3. Does anyone have any information on George Aaron Steffy? He married Eva Moody Oct. 9, 1879 in Morgan Co., OH. I know they had a daughter named Myra A. Steffy who married George H. Stump. I am wondering if George's parents are Hiram Steffy/Matilda Tryon, who were married Nov. 6, 1851 in Morgan Co., OH. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kim Augustine pkaugustine@fuse.net

    3. I'm replying to the list on this one as I feel this might be of use to several people. Before 1850 only the heads of households were named in the census. Additionally age brackets were given with the number of people that fit in that category. 1850 was the first one to list the names of the inhabitants of the household. Morgan wasn't formed until 1819, so there wouldn't have been a Morgan Co census for 1810. I do have the abstracts of the 1820 and 1830 census, but they won't provide any names-just numbers. shannon moore jacksonville, fl cc for Morgan Co, OH; Noble Co, OH and Guthrie Co, IA Jakeusna79@aol.com wrote: > > Greetings, > I want to thank all of those who have helped me in the past. 3. Another Thomas Ross listed in the Morgan County, OH 1850 census is in Homer Township. I'm sorry I don't have the exact page number, but I have this information in 1993 handrwritten notes from Ruth Hart, Morgan County Chapter of OGS. 1850 Homer Township Thomas Ross, 27, b. VA Margaret, 21, b. VA Catharine A, 1, b. OH Thomas was the second husband of Margaret Van Horn. Her first husband was James McElfresh. The Catharine listed on this census is actually a step-daughter of Thomas Ross. Thomas Ross and Margaret McElfresh were married May 8, 1850 in Morgan County, OH. To follow up on Shannon Moore's thoughts that Mrs. Ross' maiden name was possibly Harper, the Morgan County, OH marriage records should be checked for a Ross/Harper marriage. You may want to research the possibility that the Thomas Ross of Homer Township could be the father of Thomas Ross, b. 1843. Perhaps he was married previous to his marriage to Margaret. I don't have any further information on the Ross family, but I do know that Thomas and Margaret Ross were in Clackamas County, Oregon on the 1860 census. Cheryl Arver
