So here goes: me to my parents William M. Dye (b. 1914, Washington Co., OH) and Lucy P. Baker (b. Athens Co., OH) to George Irvin "irv" Dye (b. 1891, Monroe Co., OH) and Zetta Jones Dye (b. Monroe Co. OH) to Abraham H. Dye (b. 1869, Monroe Co., OH) to Mary Lillian "Lilly" Harmon/Harman (b. Monroe or Washington Co. OH) to James Ervin Dye, Sr. (b. 1833, Monroe Co. OH) and Nancy Jane Markley (b. Monroe Co. OH) to Joseph Dye (b. 1812, Monroe Co. OH)and Mary Porter (b. Monroe Co. OH) to John R. Dye (b. 1791, Prince William Co., VA) and Pris- cilla Ridgeway Dye (b. 1793, Montgomery Co. MD and a sister to your Mary Ann Ridgeway who md. Enoch Dye, my John R.'s brother) to both Daniel/Abigail Hutchinson Dye and Benjamin/Polly Ridgeway (your Mary Ann's parents) So I think that makes you and my dad 5th cousins and you and me 5th cousins once removed, with my being "the one removed!" Also, we may be related (possibly by marriage, at least) on the Holland line. My pat. gmo. Zetta Jones's half sister married a Holland in Monroe Co., OH. I have spent many a time gnashing my teeth over the Monroe Co. courthouse fires. We are also going thru that on my husband's Martin and Green lines in the Colonial Williamsburg-James City County and New Kent County fires and losses. We have made one research trip to Monroe Co. and hope to return for another, esp. since our pc hardware crashed and we lost all our pix from that trip. I am starting to purchase a few things from the Monroe Co. OGS to use for look-ups. Also on our trip there, at the courthouse I purchased the "1869 Landowner's Map of Monroe Co., Ohio" so if I can share any info with you, would be glad to exchange things. Have you looked at the great info that Al Berry has on his Ancestry world tree site? I need to contact him since it has been awhile since I have. I am also in contact with a wonderful 2nd cousin Saundra (her mom and my dad were first cousins on our Jones line). She and I really enjoy doing our geneal. together. I think she is more related to Monroe/Washington Co. people than I! I lost quite a bit of info when our hardware crashed--thought most of it was backed up but it was not....am still searching to see if I made hard copies. We have been remodeling and moving things around here---plus the pc room is always "stacked' with my print-outs, etc......I wonder if any of my ancestors were as messy as I am---as my hubby says, it may look messy but I usually can sift around and find what I need, etc.. Would be willing to communicate with you by private e-mail if you wish. That may be easier---I have a difficult time typing on these screens. I have been typing a response to you for abt. 2 hrs, counting the 3 ones I have lost! I had better send this to you before it disappears! LOL!
