Donna from WV > Donna, I have been told that PARMER is a variation of PALMER...I also have Palmer as an ancestral name, altho. in Belmont Co. and only one who married Andrew KEYSER...they were from PA somewhere. Anyway, there is a Parmer family in Adams Twp., Monroe Co. in 1860: P.O. Youngs Mills 10 Jul 1860 570-570 John W. Parmer 46 Farmer /120 OH Elisabeth 43 Domestic PA Michael 18 Farmer OH Henry 16 Farmer OH Hannah 8 OH Jacob 6 OH Hirum 4 OH Henry also attended school during the year. There are no Palmer in 1860 in the index of "The Federal Census of 1860 for Monroe Co., OH" by Wilma Davis for Sunsbury or Adams Twp. Only one listed and they are in Ohio Twp. P.O. Hannibal...they are 35 (husband) and 42 (wife, I assume) years old. 91-92 Andrew Palmer 35 Farmer 400/100 PA Sarah 42 OH Amanda J. 13 OH Grandason 11 OH Joseph 11 OH Wm. 8 OH Saml. 3 OH Lewis W. 1 OH Sarah cannot read or write; Grandason and Joseph are twins and also attended school within the year. -- Bonnie Burkhardt <burkhard@flash.net> <bburkhardt@juno.com>
