Kirk was gr-gr-grandson of Alfancy Kirk from Scotland to this country when a young man. He is the gr-grandson of Adam Kirk a physician, who had sons Wm, Adam & Caleb. Caleb had a flour mill on the Brandywine. Wm, the grandfather of Wm B. with his brother Adam left Chester Co., Pa in 1796 and went to Fayette Co., Pa, then 16 yrs later to this county. Adam later went to western part of the state and some of his sons to Indiana. Wm remained here until his death in 1842. He m Edith ?? and had 8 ch. Hannah, Samuel, Mary, Isaac, Robert, Phebe, Edith & Wm. Robert d age 82; Samuel d age 86; and Isaac d age 87. Samuel was the father of William B. Samuel b 6/2/1792; m 1816 to Rachel JONES of Jefferson Co., Va and had 6 ch. Levi, Sarah, Edith, Wm B, Samuel & Lydia J. William B. b near Flushing, 7/8/1822; m 1845 Ann JINKINS, dau of James & Margaret BARLOW Jinkins. James from Va with parents when small and Margaret from Maryland with parents when small. Wm.
