Regarding 2/6/99 post for Samuel and Scott Dickson. My gggrandfather, Alexander McWilliams served with Scott in the civil war. Alexander, Scott and Robert Armstrong, who I believe was a half brother to Scott, enlisted together in the 116th Ohio Vol. Inf. At the battle of Winchester in June of 1863, Robert was killed and Scott and Alex were captured. I understand that Scott died in captivity. Alex escaped and later returned to his unit. Scott's place of death was Georgia, he may have been at Andersonville but I have no documentation. After the war Alex returned to Monroe County and married Scott's sister, Harriet. They moved to Nevada Mo. and then about 1868 joined Scott's sister, Margaret in Sedgewick County Kansas. Margaret married Alexander Garrett and were among the first settlers in what is now Derby Kansas. In 1874 Alex and Harriet moved to Texas. The Dickson and McWilliams families were together in Jefferson County Oh. then went to Monroe on land grants in the 1830's. I have some research done by Margaret Garrett, granddaughter of Alexander and Margaret Garrett. I would like very much to exchange information with someone from the Dickson family. MIlton McWilliams
