Burkhart, 80, prominent farmer of Monroe Co., Oh, died Saturday at 8am in his home, RFD, Woodsfield. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church of Woodsfield and last October 17th he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Edith Burkhart, Columbus, Ohio, four sons, Charles & Arthur Burkhart, both of Wheeling (WVA); Francis of Columbus, Ohio, and Captain John T. Burkhart of Phonexeville, Pa. The body was removed to the Schumaker funeral home, Woodsfield, where it will remain pending funeral arrangements. (Nov 14, 1948) Joseph F. Burkhart, in his 82nd year, resident of 173 Alley 16, and father of Joseph C. Burkhart, former sheriff of Ohio County, died this morning at 1:27 o'clock in Wheeling Hospital. Ailing for the past five weeks. He was born in Monroe Co., O, June 30, 1867, son of the late Joseph F. & Margaret KETTLE Burkhart and was married in Wheeling to Catherine Burkhart, who proceded him in death a number of years ago. Deceased was an employee of the Whitaker-Glessner Co., the greater part of his life, retiring 20 yrs ago. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic church and Branch 30 Knites of St. George. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles McConnaughy, of this city, and Mrs. Howard Glass, Detroit, Mich. and three sons, Joseph C Burkhart, Albert & Clem Burkhart, all of this city. One sister, Mrs. N.J. Eaisenhauer, Wheeling, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The body was removed to the Altmeyer and Sons funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
