Tubaugh, Eloise 1887-1901 Obituaries of Monroe Co., Ohio Mrs. Lena Litman Dierkes died at her home in Akron on Thursday evening, July 9th, after a short illness. Her body was brought to the Union U.B. Church on Long Ridge, Hannibal on Sunday, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Grubb, of Akron, and were largely attended, the church accommodating less than a third of the crowd. Mrs. Dierkes who had attained the age of 51 years, was born and grew to womanhood in the Hannibal community, the daughter of Job & Elsie Litman. After her marriage to Charles Dierkes, she moved to Akron, where she spent the remainder of her life. She is survived by her husband, five brothers and three sisters. Among those who attended the funeral were Frank & Langford Litman, of Claysville, Pa; Mr. & Mrs Ed Sigenthaler, Mr & Mrs Carl Litman, Mr. & Mrs. Wm Sigenthaler & Harry Winkler, of Akron; Mr & Mrs Earl Berger, of Kent; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Neiman, Mr. & Mrs Will Hart, of McMechen; Mr & Mrs Davis, of Etnaville; Mr & Mrs Charles TUBAUGH, of Martins Ferry; Mr & Mrs Will Gilmore, of Cadiz; and Rev Grubb, of Akron. This was Rev. Grubb's first appearance in this community since he served the Mt. Union, Mt Olive and Locust Grove Circuit thirty years ago. 1951 **************************************************************************** ************************************************ Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Isobel TUBAUGH, 65, who died Thursday night in her home, 810 Washington Street, Martins Ferry, will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock in the home of her sister, Mrs. Simon Tubaugh, 411 Grant Avenue, and interment will follow in Belmont Memorial Park cemetery. She had been ailing the past four months. Mrs. Tubaugh was born in Hannibal, August 16, 1882, and had been a resident of Martins Ferry 45 years. She was a member of First Christian church and Dames of Malta. Surviving beside her husband, Charles Tubaugh, are two daughters, Mrs. Gladys McMahon, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Richard McNamara, Warwood; two brothers, Carl Litman, Akron and Frank Litman, Claysville, Pa; a sister, Mrs. Simon Tubaugh, Martins Ferry and two grandchildren. The body now at the Heslop funeral chapel will be taken to the sister's home Saturday morning (Friday, Jan 2, 1948) **************************************************************************** ************************************************ Minnie Marty Harrison, daughter of Randloph and Mary Kurtzman Marty, was born Jan 21, 1868, and passed away in the Wetzel County Hospital at New Martinsville, at 2:30 o'clock on June 8, 1940, at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 17 days. In 1896 she was united in marriage to George Harrison. To this union were born a son and a daughter. She was a member of the Mt. Union United Brethern Church, having always lived a devoted unselfish life and was loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Heslop of Paden City; a son, Harry, of Wheeling; six grandchildren; four sisters and six brothers; Mrs. Henry TUBAUGH, Sardis; Mrs. Mary Butler, Clarington; Mrs. Clara English and Mrs. Ella Warrick, Barnesville; William, Albert, Julius, and Jacob Marty, Bridgeport; Rev. R.A. Marty, Minerva, Ohio; Wesley Marty, Hannibal, and a large number of other relatives and friends. On Monday, June 10th, short funeral services were held in the home with final rites at Mt. Vernon church in charge of Rev. Dangel and Rev. Heinlein. Interment was made in the cemetery there. **************************************************************************** ************************************************* Jean Elaine McIntire was born April 17, 1918 and died May 19, 1943 at the age of 25 years 1 month and 2 days. She was the daughter of Ida Zeh McIntire and the late David Henry McIntire. She was united in marriage with James Carl Gilmore, on July 26, 1941. Surviving in addition to her husband are her mother, Mrs. Ida McIntire, on sister, Edma Mae of the home and two brothers, Delbert McIntire & Allan Gilbert McIntire of Clarington, Ohio. Her father and one brother preceded her in death. Also surviving are two half-sisters, Mrs. Gertie TUBAUGH of Apalachin, New York and Mrs. Vera Lehmann of Cleveland, Ohio. One half-brother, Clifton McIntire, of Provo, Utah, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon on May 22 in charge of Rev. H.C. Heinlein. Burial was made in Chapel Hill cemetery in charge of the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home of Woodsfield. **************************************************************************** ************************************************* Louisa Jane Gilmore, 74, died at her home on O'Possom Creek, Friday evening August 7, 1942, following an illness of several months. She was a lifelong resident of this community. She was well known and was a member of the Valley Methodist Church. Surviving are seven children: Mrs. James Cook of Monaca, Pa; Mrs Harry Taylor of Cadiz; William & Glenn Gilmore of Cadiz; Martin, James & Reece Gilmore of Clarington. Two sisters, Mrs. E. Davis & Mrs. Charles TUBACH, of Martins Ferry. Two brothers, John Smith, of Wheeling & william Smith of Clarington. One half-brotherr, Carl Litman, of Canton also survives. Services were held Monday afternoon at the Valley Methodist Church with Rev. H.C. Heinlein in charge. Burial was made in Sykes Ridge cemetery. **************************************************************************** ************************************************** William A. Smith was born near Hannibal, Ohio July 12, 1870 and was the son of George & Elsie Smith. He died April 29, 1945 at the Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, at the age of 74 years, 9 months 17 days. On March 22, 1905 he was united in marriage to Emira Bowery. She preceded him in death February 6, 1941. To this union two sons were born, Thurman Smith of Sardis, and Willard Smith of East Liverpool. He leaves to mourn his departure, his sons and eight grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, John Smith of Wheeling; a half-brother Carl Litman of Akron; two half-sisters, Mrs. Charles TUBAUGH and Mrs. Nancy Davis of Martins Ferry. He was a kind and loving father and was liked by all who knew him. He had made his home with his son Thurman since the death of his wife. Dearest father, thou hast left us, and our loss we deeply feel. But 'tis God that hath bereft us. He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee, It was hard to say goodbye; When on earth no more we greet thee, We home to meet beyond the sky.
