J.L., as much as you help others, I wish I could help you, but I can't. A while back you wrote me and asked me if the Samuel Dixon I was researching was the same as your Samuel Newton Dixon. Obviously you have found out more about your Samuel Newton than I have been able to discover about my Samuel Dixon. They definitely are not the same person. My ggrandfather, Samuel Dixon was born in 1814-15 time frame in VA. Married Delilah Figley Jan. 1, 1839 in Harrison Co., OH. Their youngest son Thomas was born 7/6/1855 in Va., but they are in the Census in OH in 1850 and 1860. By 1870, Delilah was with her brother Robert Figley and his wife Canzada Woodyard Figley in Scipio Twp., Meigs Co. and Thomas was with the Clines in Monroe Co. By 1880, Delilah and her brother's family were gone. My questions still are: 1. Where was Samuel born in VA? 2. Who were his parents? 3. What happened to him between 1860 and 1870? 4. Where is he buried? 5. What happened to Delilah after 1870? 6. Where did her brother's family go and did she go with them? I know that part of the Figley family went to KS because I found a record of a Canzada Figley graduating from High School in Miami County KS in the early part of this century. Probably a grandaughter of Robert and Canzada's. Too unusual a name to be in common use.
