    3. >When you say you store documents in "archival plastic sheets," do you mean >they are pH neutral or pH-negative to absorb acids? Are they porous? And >do you have them stored upright, or flat? Tightly or loosely packed? Thanks, all, for such a quick response. I think I knew the answer, but really appreciate your feedback. James, I'm just assuming that these "archival plastic sheets" (sleeves, really) are whatever pH necessary to keep the documents from deteriorating. I don't know whether they are pH-neutral or pH-negative, or porous, for that matter. Right now, I'm going back and forth between files and 3-ring binders for storage. And I haven't been particularly careful about them all, and I'm just beginning to realize how precious all this paper is, and how I really need to think carefully about preserving it. So, I will stop considering laminating, and will go to the Texas State Archives and Geneology Library, just a few blocks from where I work, and get some tips on preserving these wonderful old documents. Thanks, all!
