In 1859 Scott Dixon m to Hannah Jane Ferrell there children were: Samuel Newton "Newt" William Minerva "Sis" Samuel married to a lady named Ella Stephens but it seems Ella Stephens was the lady's adopted name. Her real name could have been Nancy Ellen Baker. Her adopted parents were Marion & Rachel Stephens. On death certificates of her children sometimes the name of the mother given is Nancy Ellen Baker and sometimes it is Ella Stephens (She and Newt had 7 children) Their daughter, Bessie Jane Dixon, b November 1890, was my great grandmother. I would like to discover where her adopted parents lived and died - quite probably in Monroe Co. Also, could someone advise me on how to proceed to discover her birth parents?
