Hi everyone, I have been going through the microfilm for the 1860 Monroe Co OH census and have found what I believe to be a large number of families living in close proximity to each other who report being born in Switzerland (that is if my tired eyes aren't deceiving me--the handwriting on this census is very bad and light). I stumbled across a surname I wasn't expecting to find--SCHWAM--in this group of families from Switzerland living in the Hanibal Post Office area of Ohio Twp/Monroe Co. Is anyone else researching families of Swiss origin? Other surnames include: INGOLD, KERNON, SUTHY and SPRING. There may be more I haven't found yet. Thanks, Nancy <jpsnbs@erols.com>
