(Although the similiarity of the names of the John/Precious family of VA/OH to the family of James Scott and Elizabeth Harrison of VA are SO tempting, and it would have been cool to be kin of George Mason, given that I have been living near Gunston Hall...)If only John Scott was 10 years younger, we could make a case for his apparent father James Scott (see Greenbriar CO VA/WV tax records) being the missing James Scott son of Capt. James! Of course, since there are no major bragging rights involved, we can't just try to get some known male descendents of (1) the VA Scotts and (2) our Scotts and try to match up DNA a la Jefferson/Hemings. Could James Scott instead be father of Precious?? (ha.ha.- but stranger things have been discovered in other branches of my ancestry...) Precious, given her claimed birthplace and date, might actually be part-Indian (or the child of Indian converts)as there were few white women in eastern TN in that period. I have been hunting for the "Indians in the woodpile", as my father certainly looks like a "breed". Family history claims that Alice Pryor had "Indian blood". A branch from the other side of my father's tree also has early eastern TN blood circa 1785 (according to Greene CO TN marriage records). Are you also a fine offshoot of Calvin Pryor and Priscilla Scott of Monroe CO OH? or are you from another child of John and Preasious Scott? I have been looking for other offshoots of Calvin and Priscilla to attempt to solve the mystery of the Calvin obit and the unspecified living daughters at the time of Calvin's death in 1914. If you are a Pryor, I also have been digging and have some of the Vera Pryor Alker DAR stuff, census data, etc. to share.
