Spirit of Democracy August 31, 1911 Sardis Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knight, Mrs. A.C. Vetter and Miss Adda Knight spent Sunday at Parkersburg the guests of their sister Mrs. Dora Watson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Knight of Los Angeles, California, arrived Monday evening to visit his mother after an absence of ten years. A large crowd enjoyed a picnic at Paden park Thursday afternoon and stayed for Prof. Nott's dance in the evening. Mrs. C.K. Gano and son Chester have returned to their home in Wheeling after a short visit here with relatives. Misses Edith and Mildred Renshaw of Mannington, W.Va., have returned home after a two weeks visit here. Miss Sarah Louise Dixon of Martins Ferry is visiting at the home of Mrs. A. Klotzly in the country. Miss Mary Griffith left Monday for Parkersburg where she will visit with Mrs.. M.E. Flaherty. Mrs. A. B. Schoonover and children are home from a weeks visit with relatives in Wheeling. Miss Ethel Winland will leave Monday to spend her vacation with Floy Caldwell at Alledonia. Mrs. D. J. Martin and Miss Ethel Winland were shopping in Sistersville Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Raleigh Johnson of Cincinnati arrived Friday for a visit with her cousin Flora Frey. A number of our young people gave a "Melon Feed" in Nesbitt's orchard Monday night. Norman Hueber and Mason Gibson of Wheeling are spending a week's vacation here.
