If you have any information about this family > or their history please let me know. > > Thanks, > Laura Del Rosario > > Dear Laura: I have yet to discover the parents of my Samuel Snyder, but John and Samuel Snyder could be brothers. Samuel and his wife Rebecca (King)--d/o John King) were both born in Maryland. There was a George Snyder and a Michael Snyder in Belmont Co at a very early date and are mentioned in Lorraine Indermill Quillon's "Will Abstracts, Belmont County, Ohio, Vol. A, B, and C (1810-1827), Willow Bend Books, 2003. They would have been adults during that time period. File away the information; it may help in putting clues together at a later date. Something else. I have included all the Snyders in the 1850 and 1860 Monroe Co, OH, Censuses. However, we should look closely at Guernsey and Belmont Co's for Snyders born in MD. At the moment I do not have those censuses at hand, so I have not extracted them below. But without them, we do not have a clear picture. Hopefully, someone on the Lists will be able to help us find out Snyder ancestors. Will Book Vol.-Page A-221 Estate of Joseph VanLaw 21 Mar 1815 Appraisement Report presented to court. Interments to Sep 27, 1889 were taken from The Democratic Advocate, a Carroll County newspaper. This has been the most difficult one to do as the print was set in extra-small lettering in order to squeeze it all in the allotted space. Even with the help of scanning and enlarging or with the assistance of a magnifying glass, it has been very difficult. It appears the stones were removed and replaced in rows, back to back, so it seems unlikely the tombstones are in the exact location of the graves.
