    3. Here is the beginning of the year 1909. Will transcribe 1910 later, but don't have them copied from the library yet. After this I plan to go back to the 1890's and work forward. These articles are for the benefit of the genealogy community and should not be harvested and sold for anyone else's profit. Spirit of Democracy January 7, 1909 Sardis The M. E. Sunday school board met January 1st and elected the officers and teachers for the new year which are as follows: Superintendent, Rev. C. E. Dally; assistant superintendent, Rev. J. W. Rush; secretary, Miss Ethel Winland; assistant secretary Miss Olive Litten; treasurer, E.A. Hartleib; organist, Miss Mae Harman; assistant organist, Miss Nellie Martin; librarians, Paul Goodwin and Ivan Ratcliffe. Teachers: Mae Harman, George Tubaugh, John V. Nelson, Susan English, Dr. S. C. Griffith, Mrs. Ella Vetter, Mrs. Mattie Martin, Miss Maude Ryne, Miss Golia Farmer, Rev. J. W. Rush, Mrs. Eva Martin, Mrs. Myra Roe, Mrs. Eva Hess, Bunger Ryne. Miss Lena Hedinger and Mr. William Stalder were married at the home of the bride near town Thursday December 31. A number of relatives and friends witnessed the ceremony. Prof. John V. Nelson and bride returned Saturday from their honeymoon and have gone to housekeeping in part of Rachel Goodwin's house on Fifth street. Joseph Griffith and wife of Jerusalem have returned to their home after a pleasant visit with their son Dr. S. C. Griffith. George E. Goddard of Woodsfield was in town Sunday enroute to Hunnington, W.Va., where he has employment. Henry Houserman left Saturday for his home in McKeesport, Pa., after spending the past three months here. Miss Lucile Griffith came home Sunday from Parkersburg where she spent a week with Miss Lillian Case. Miss Maude Ryne attended the funeral of Cyrus Higgs at Woodland, W. V.a, Sunday. Miss Ethel Winland has returned home from a visit with friends at Wheeling. Rachel Goodwin and son William of Clarington are visiting here for a few days. Mrs. George M. Towle is visiting her sister at Parkersburg. Miss Clara Suter of Hannibal was in town Thursday. E. R. Staudt was a business caller here Saturday. S. V.
