    3. Spirit of Democracy Feb. 2, 1911 (second of two articles in same issue of paper) Sardis Miss Maude Ryne left Thursday for a months visit with her aunt Mrs. G. L. Titus at Huntington, W. Va. Mrs. S. V. Williamson entertained a few of her friends Saturday evening at her home on Main Street. Rev. J. L. Suddeth closed a series of meetings at the Mt. Olive appointment Wednesday evening. Charles E. Bauman left Monday for his home in Pittsburg after a short visit here with his mother. Elwood Stewart has bought William Elsenbarth's interest in the meat market at this place. Mrs. Edith Drollinger entertained the Ladies' Aid Society Thursday afternoon. Dr. S. C. Griffith was a professional caller at Woodland, W.Va., Wednesday. Clyde Huffman of Benwood was a business caller in town Friday. Charles E. Hess is visiting relatives in Pittsburg for a few weeks. Mr. Spindler of Wheeling is the guest of his son at this place. Mrs. Frank Renshaw was shopping in Sistersville Friday. Fredie Hoskinson is spending a few days here with friends. Miss Mary Farmer is a Clarington with her sister, Golia. E.D. Thompson was a caller in Sistersville Thursday. John Hoskinson of Hannibal was in town Saturday. Jacob Wonhas is confined to his home with illness.
