Litten. Supt. J. V. Nelson and Dr. S. C. Griffith were at Sistersville Monday evening to hear a lecture given by Lon Beauchamp on "Take the Sunny Side." Jacob Wohnhas, an aged citizen of this place, has been quite ill at his home on Mound street for two weeks. He is reported much improved. Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Farmer of Martins Ferry were called here last week on account of the illness of their daughter Golia. Mrs. Ed Carter and daughter Gladys of Wheeling are guests of her sister Mrs. George M. Towle at this place. A large crowd from here attended the concert given by the "Roney Boy" at Sistersville Thursday night. Rev. D. W. Harkins of Woodsfield began a series of meetings in the Church of Christ Saturday evening. Directors of the First National Bank held their regular meeting in the bank building Tuesday afternoon. John P. Goodwin, cashier of the First National Bank, spent Saturday and Sunday at Parkersburg. W. M. McMasters, president of the Mt. Union college, was a visitor of our city Wednesday. Mrs. and Mrs. Tom Garden were guests of Robert Garden and family last Sunday. Mrs. Lena Shepherd of Martins Ferry is the guest of her brother E. A. Hartlieb. Miss Mae Harman spent Saturday and Sunday in Marietta with her brother. William Dunn will open an up-to-date grocery at this place February 15. Ernest Witschy of Dairy transacted business in town Wednesday. Mr. DeCamp, a bank examiner of Athens, was here Tuesday on business. George Case of Parkersburg was a business visitor in town Tuesday. Mrs. E. C. Frey was hostess to the Ladies' Aid Society last week. Jack Kincaid of Sistersville was a business caller here Friday. Miss Elizabeth Garden is visiting her grandmother at Wittens. Mrs. Louis Troush of Martins Ferry is visiting relatives here. George Thompson of Wheeling was a caller in town Tuesday. H. F.
