Spirit of Democracy December 7, 1911 Sardis (crowded of out last week) Miss Rosena Gehring passed away Friday morning after a lingering illness from consumption. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday morning. The "Helpers" gave a social in the basement of the M.E. church Saturday evening. A nice little sum was taken in for the benefit of the Sunday school. Misses Alice and Bernice Gano of Newport, Ohio, were guests of their grandmother Mrs. S. Gano here Thursday and Friday. James H. Litten came home Thursday from Canton, Ohio, where he has had employment the past few months. Mrs. L.H. Anderson was called to Connelsville, Pa., last week on account of the illness of her father. John Gehring was at home Sunday from Wheeling to attend the funeral of his sister. Mrs. John Drollinger and daughter Rose are guests of her husband at Clarksburg. Mrs. George McCurdy of Hannibal visited with Mrs. Towle Saturday and Sunday. Clyde Paden returned home Thursday evening from a week's visit at Alliance, Ohio. Rev. Will Boetticher of Pittsburg, Pa., visited his parents a few days last week. Mrs. John Hess and daughter Lena visited relatives in Hannibal Wednesday. Mrs. K.G. Nelson and children of Marietta are guests of relatives here. Rev. A.A. Bunner has closed a week's meeting at the Christian church. Miss Erna Litten was home from Wheeling to spend Thanksgiving. Dr. F. W. Shapley was a business caller in Sistersville Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Sole spent Sunday with relatives in Hannibal. A. E. Watters was a business caller in Sistersville Saturday. George Case was up from Parkersburg Sunday. Miss Maude Ryne was a Wheeling shopper Monday. E.C.
