These articles are for the benefit of the genealogy community and should not be harvested and sold for anyone's profit Spirit of Democracy October 14, 1909 Sardis Eugene Thompson left Sunday for his work in the Lincoln county oil fields after a three weeks visit at home. Mr. and Mrs. David Bonar of Jerusalem visited their daughter Mrs. J. V. Nelson a few days last week. Misses Lena and Clara Hess returned Sunday from a months visit with relatives at Avalon, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Powell of Parkersburg spent Sunday at the home of George M. Towle. A. B. Caldwell of Alledonia was a business caller in town several days last week. A large number from here attended the football game at New Martinsville Saturday. Mrs. Sarah Carroll of Parkersburg arrived Wednesday for a visit with relatives. A.E. Watters and W.L. Winland were at New Matamoras first of the week. Misses Jennie Litten and Mabel Rist were at New Martinsville Saturday. John L. Harman, wife and son Gordon were up from Marietta Sunday. George Case of Parkersburg spent Sunday here with relatives. Vernon Mercer of Sistersville was calling on friends here Sunday. George Hess was a New Martinsville Sunday afternoon.
