These articles are for the benefit of the genealogy community and should not be harvested and sold for anyone's profit Spirit of Democracy February 15, 1912 Sardis (Unavoidably omitted last week) Miss Lena Hess, one of our most accomplished young ladies, and George H. Cordell were married January 28 at the parsonage of the First Christian Church, Wheeling. They left on the evening train for Pittsburg where they will make their future home. Mr. Cordell holds a position as bookkeeper at the Union depot, Pittsburg. They have the best wishes of a host of friends. Revival meetings are in progress at the M.E. church. Rev. Kaho will be assisted the next two weeks by Miss McGee, an evangelist from Toronto. Miss Erna Litten, who is attending Elliott Business school at Wheeling, spent Saturday and Sunday here with her parents. Rev. A.J. Bachman and wife of Flemington, Pa., are visiting at the home of his parents on Mound street. Mrs. H.G. Hesson was hostess to the Ladies' Aid Society at their regular meeting Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Ed Carter and daughter Gladys of Wheeling are guests of her sister Mrs. George M. Towle. Clyde Paden, Lester Griffith and Vaine Smittle were Hannibal callers Saturday evening. E.E. Campbell and Frank Bachman of West Union spent Saturday at this place. John Theiss, jr., of Steubenville spent Saturday and Sunday here with his parents. Miss Lucille Griffith visited with Miss Winifred Voegtly at Hannibal Saturday. Miss Hazel Bowen, who is attending Marietta college, is visiting her mother. Miss Edna Bowen of St. Marys, W.Va., is visiting with her mother here. Dr. C.S. Griffith was a professional caller in Wheeling Thursday. Frank Henthorn of Hannibal visited his uncle Jacob Mellott Saturday. Joe O'Neill of Hannibal was a pleasant caller in town Saturday evening. Harry Dillworth of Spencer, W.Va., spent Sunday here with friends. Ernest Witschy of Dairy was transacting business at this place Friday. Miss Ethel Thompson visited in Sistersville Friday and Saturday John Drollinger of Grafton, W.Va., is visiting his family here.
