Roby and family of the U.B. church left Sunday for his parish. Rev. Suddoth, his successor, will move his family here soon. Rev. Roby was well liked as a citizen and christian gentleman, but we hope his place will be amply filled. Misses Nellie Martin and Flora Frey spent Sunday at St. Mary's W.Va., with friends. Miss Mae Harman attended the meeting of the Eastern Stars at Matamoras Friday night. Miss Ethel Winland, our postmistress, is spending her vacation at Wheeling. The Ladies' Aid Society had an old fashioned "quilting bee" Thursday. They treated themselves to a sumptuous dinner and supper. It is needless to say they enjoyed it as they are famous cooks as well as quilters. They have finished paying for the beautiful pavement around the church lot and will now fresco the church. C.E. Dally our Sunday school superintendent attended the convention at Hannibal Sunday. Mrs. J.K. Rush was called to Bellaire last week on account of the death of her sister. Mrs. Case of Parkersburg returned home Saturday after spending a week with her parents here. R. L. and Homer Richardson were down from New Martinsville Sunday. Miss India Witten moved to Wheeling last week. The house she vacated will be occupied by Morris Huffman and wife. Harry Ratcliffe spent Sunday at home with his family. All the scarlet rash patients are well and the scare is over. Mrs. Beardmore and Miss Hattie Thompson drove in from Woodsfield Saturday. Elder Devore is holding meetings here this week in the Christian church. transcribed by Sara Richardson Kelly re: Richardson, Suter, Griffith, Nesbitt
