Spirit of Democracy January 28, 1909 Sardis At their meeting Wednesday evening Sardis Temple No. 281 Pythian Sisters, three pilgrims were instructed in the mysteries of the order, after which the following officers were installed for the coming term: Miss Adda Cline, past chief; Mrs. Adda Smittle, M. E. C.; Mrs Lizzie Busche, E. S.; Mrs. Eva Hess, E. J.; Miss Minnie Lallathin, M. of Temple; Mrs. Edith Drollinger, M.of R. and C; Miss Ethel Thompson, M. of F.; Mrs. Mary English, Protector of T.; Mrs. Lib Thompson, G.of O. T. following this a generous luncheon was served in the banquet room of the K. of P. building. Everybody had a good time, even the candidates. Mrs. Edith Niman and daughter Virginia returned to their home in Martins Ferry after a week's visit here with her parents. Mrs. Harry Ratcliffe has returned from Wheeling where she was called on account of the illness of her sister. Miss Minnie Muhleman of Hannibal attended the funeral of Mrs. Carree Martin Tuesday morning. Mrs. Salena Nelson returned home Saturday from a week's visit with her parents at Jerusalem. Miss Erma Vetter entertained a few of her friends Monday evening at her home on Mound street. Miss India Witten left Friday morning to visit her sister Mrs. Mary Moore at Huntington, W.Va. Miss Mae Harman spend Saturday and Sunday with her brother and wife at Marietta. Mrs. C.O. Cunningham has returned from a visit with her parents at Follansbee, W.Va. Mrs. Rose Rowles left Friday for Wheeling where she will visit friends and relatives. Miss Kathryne Litten was shopping in New Martinsville Saturday afternoon. Dr. S.C. Griffith had a beautiful new sign put up on the postoffice last week. Mrs. Oliver Gossett entertained the Ladies' Aid Society Thursday afternoon. Rev. George W. Robey is holding revival meetings at Locust Grove. Mrs. A.C. Vetter was at Wheeling several days last week. Miss Clara Suter spent Saturday and Sunday at Hannibal. Miss Susan English was in town Monday and Tuesday. William Busche is home from Pittsburg for a few days.
