Spirit of Democracy November 18, 1909 Sardis George Goddard of Huntington, W.Va., Harold of Woodsfield and Clyde of Wheeling are visiting their brother William at this place. Mrs. Nelson Oblinger and daughter Mary Caroline spent Wednesday afternoon here with Mrs. Edith M. Niman. Mr. and Mrs. Will Dunn returned home Friday from a weeks visit with relatives at Charleston, W.Va. Nelson Oblinger was at the First National Bank Wednesday during the absence of John P. Goodwin, cashier. Mrs. Benton Rowles and Miss Maude Ryne spent Sunday afternoon with Miss Grace Kirkland at Wittens. Miss Erma Vetter is visiting Misses Laura, Adaline and Matilda Witschey at their home in the country. Mrs. Edith M. Niman and Miss Ethel Winland were calling on friends at Sistersville Monday. Charles Hess, Ralph Goodwin and Misses Lena and Clara Hess were at Clarington Sunday. Miss Elva Anderson of Wheeling visited her sister Mrs. E.R. Siebert Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Miles Davis of Wheeling spent Sunday here at the home of Harry Ratcliffe. John L. Harman and family of Marietta visited their parents here several days last week. Miss Edna Bowen of St. Mary, W.Va., spent Sunday at home with her parents. Misses Clara and Stella Suter of Hannibal were calling on friends here Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John Burky were at New Martinsville Sunday with relatives. Miss Kathryne Litten of Wheeling spent Sunday here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Winland spent Sunday with their daughter at Wheeling. John Nelson Vancamp of Paden City was a business caller here Saturday. Mrs. Mary Moore of Huntington , W.V.a, visited her sister here last week. J.C. Williamson of Wheeling was a business caller at this place Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J.V. Nelson were at New Martinsville Saturday afternoon. John P. Goodwin and John F. Zeh were county seat visitors Wednesday. Miss Marie Hissom is visiting her sister Mrs. John L. Harman at Marietta. Charles Dinsmore of Marietta spent Monday here with John L. Harman. Miss Mant Rush is the guest of her sister Mrs. Charles Claugus. George M. Towle was a Wheeling visitor a few days last week. George H. Martin is home from his work in the oil fields. Ernest Witschey and wife of Dairy were in town Saturday. Miss Nellie Martin was shopping in Sistersville Saturday. C. E. Litten was home from Martins Ferry for Sunday. Miss Jennie Litten was at Sistersville Friday afternoon. Joseph Sole of Hannibal was on our streets Saturday. John W. F. Griffon of Route 3 was in town Saturday.
