CURTIS and others, and the departure of Steel, it lost its financial support and has fallen into decay. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. A.L. Curtis, physician, was born in Noble Co 39 yrs ago. He is a son of Liberty Curtis, for many years a prominent citizen and wealthy farmer of that county. After finishing his education he studied medicine with Dr. G. W. Mason in 1869 & 1870. Graduated at the Medical College of Ohio in 1872. Practiced at Carlisle, Noble Co. from 1874-1880, when he came here, and now lives in the house built by his father in the grove south of town. He is a successful physician, but his health not being good, he amuses himself buying and selling fine horses, and boasts he has now some of the best horses in the county. Monroe Co., Oh: The 1st 20yrs Commissioners' Journal 1815-1835 December 5, 1825: David Cuningham presented a petition for a new road beginning at the Morgan County line in Monroe Co on Sect 31 in Twp 6 Range 8, thence eastwardly to David Cuningham's Mill, thence the best route to cross the Middle Fork of Duck Creek near Francis Hupp's, thence to intersect the road leading to Woodsfield near John McBrides, which petition was acted on and a view granted, and John Bevin, Daniel Blanke and Eli CURTIS was appointed viewers on the same to meet at David Cuningham's on the 3rd Tuesday in Dec 1825, and Elijah Andrews was appointed to survey the same. December 2, 1828 A petition for a view of a road commencing near Nicholas Gasaway's through Eli Curtis's land and ending at Woodman Okey's, and whereas said route presents a very difficult hill between Mr. Curtis and siad place of beginning.
