He was born on the farm in Switzer Twp and had lived there his entire life. Surviving are three children: Mrs. Laura GIBSON, Powhatan; Mrs Buena Jenny, Lodi, Ohio; Harry Roth, Clarington, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, a brother, Albert Roth, Wheeling and a sister, Mrs. John Myers, Clarington. The body is at the Gibson-Bauknecht funeral home in Powhatan and burial arrangements are incomplete. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. (Friday, October 22, 1948) Monroe Co., Oh Cemetery Inscriptions: Ohio & Lee Twps nothing found Monroe Co., Oh: The 1st 20yrs Commissioners' Journal 1815-1835 March 3rd, 1835 John Gibson & Co., presented a petittion praying for damages in case of the alteration of the graded State Road leading from Sistersville to Freeport, said alteration being obtained by petition of Ezra Driggs, between the nw corner of the town of Woodsfield and a lot of land owned by Joseph Morris on said road. Said Gibson & Co's or Wm Steel entered into bond with approved security for the payment of all costs, provided said road or alteration be not reported to damage said Gibson & Co's property through which it is changed or altered. H.H. Mott, David Kirkbride & Wm Cochran was appointed to view and assess the damage, if any, sustained, and report the same to this body at their next session. Viewers to meet on the 31st of this instant, the report of the said alteration having been read.
