I am looking for the William Dillon Family. William was born in Ohio in 1821/1823. He may have been the grandson of Thomas Dillon who migrated from Ireland to Green County, PA before the Revolutionary War. Thomas name may have been Peter Dillon according to a compilation of Henry S. Dillon. Thomas (Peter) Dillon had six sons: Thomas, Abraham, William, Isaac, Israel and John. One of the six sons may have been my William Dillons father. This would make my William the grandson of the original Thomas or Peter Dillon. My William Dillon was living in Green township, Monroe County, Ohio in the 1850 census. William was shown as 27 in 1850, making his birth about 1821 to 1823 in Ohio. In that 1850 census, he and his wife, Elizabeth (?) had three sons. Elizabeth was born in PA. However, we question this as the 1860 census showed her born in VA. The three sons were: Abraham age 6, Henry age 4 and John age 3. Also living in the household was an 80 year old lady by the name of Elizabeth Highly born in VA. She may have been the younger Elizabeths mother. However, the name Highly may have been transcribed incorrectly. It may have been Lively I am looking to identify my William Dillons father. (Williams father may have been one of those six sons of Thomas (Peter) Dillon) I am also looking for the maiden name of Williams wife, Elizabeth and to trace her family. In the mid 1850s my William Dillon family moved to Lineville, Iowa (Wayne County). The family including the three sons continued to live in that area of Iowa, (Wayne County and Decatur County) until the three sons grew to adulthood. Both son Abraham and son Henry married in Lineville area. Abraham married Jane Galpin and Henry married her sister, Emmaline Galpin. Abraham raised his family in Lineville and Henry moved to Daviess County, MO where Henrys daughter Bertha Dillon married George B. Adams in 1889 in Gallatin, MO. Henry died in Hamilton, MO (Caldwell County) in 1896. William Dillon and his wife Elizabeth donated land to Lineville as part of the Union Cemetery in the mid 1850s and one of the first people buried there was a baby with the last name of Galpin. Can anyone help me to link my William Dillon with his proper family and help me to identify his wife, Elizabeth. William and Elizabeth were my Great-great grandparents. Thank you for your help.
