EAST LIVERPOOL - Chester L. Cline, 81, of Berkshire Road, died at 11:32 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at City Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born June 6, 1926, in Monroe County, Ohio, a son of the late Henry and Mae Cline, he spent most of his life in this area. An employee in the shipping department of the former Crucible Steel Co., he retired in 1982. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served as a Military Policeman in the Philippines. He was a member of the First Free Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death July 21, 2007, by his wife, Audrey Lucille Cline, whom he married May 21, 1949. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Varsho, and her husband Jon of Lisbon; and a son, Lanny Cline, and his wife Margie of Calcutta. There are three grandchildren: Andrew Varsho, Matthew Cline and Timothy Varsho. He is also survived by a sister, Lucille Neff, of New Martinsville, W.Va. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Cline and Glenn Cline. The Rev. Steve Forsythe will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Burial is to be in Calcutta United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
