There as a book "Reconstructed Marriages of Monroe Co." compiling marriages from other sources and there is one McCormick listed: John A. McCormick and Elizabeth Barnes of Franklin Twp. 3 Jul 1856. Looking for other marriages in "Monroe Co. Newspaper Abstracts (8 Mar 1844 - 25 Aug 1852) there was this notation for the 7 Apr 1852 paper (Spirit of Democracy): Ohio Hotel by T. B. McCormick at Stratford (pg. 3, col. 2) The only Monroe Co. marriages I found in "Monroe Co., OH Marriages, 1867-1917" were: Robert McCormick & Haddie B. Hill 19 Feb 1885 Samuel C. McCormick & Rachel S. Ferguson 22 Oct 1885 Applicant of later marriage was E. W. Armstrong Perhaps some of the Belmont Co. marriages would be relevant. These were taken from 2 Belmont Co. marriage books comprising the years of 1803-1849 & 1850-1870. McCormick: Eliza & James Alexander 9 Nov 1843 George & Margaret Ferguson 2 Mar 1826 James & Mary Ann Cidles (Sidles?) 5 Jun 1831 James & Nancy Wheeler 19 Oct 1848 Jane & John Willis 22 Oct 1823 Jane & William Patterson 16 Mar 1843 John & Sophia Steel 11 Aug 1840 Samuel & Jane W. Morrison 22 Mar 1842 There was also a Sarah McCormack, but since the marriage was in 1839, wasn't your Sarah. Let me know if you would like the details on that. Anna & Joseph White 10 Feb 1869 Honour & William McNally (no return ca. Aug 1853) Isabella (Mrs.) & Wilson B. Farra 21 Jan 1858 John & Winnaford Conner 8 Sep 1867 Nancy (Mrs.) & John McBride 13 Jun 1857 Sarah E. & Oliver G. Tarbet (age 17) 28 Mar 1861 Informant of the last was Wiliam Tarbet (father) Sarah H. & John Gilaspie 4 Feb 1869 Thomas (age 18) & Sarah Ramsey (age 16) 18 Oct 1865 William R. & Nancy M. Thompson 10 Apr 1850 In some of the books done by Belmont Co. (the above Belmont marriages were transcribed by Wes Cochran as well as the Monroe Co. marriages) the residences of the couples were noted and who married them. Their compiled marriages are to 1849, I believe. Let me know if any of that would interest you on any of these Belmont Co. marriages. Some of the Monroe Co. people also married in Tyler Co. WV as well as maybe some of the other counties in WV bordering the Ohio River. Have you checked out the Washington Co., OH marriages? How about searching on www.familysearch.org? The earlier marriages of Washington Co. should be listed on there. If you want to determine age of any of these search for them on the census after they married.
