    3. Betty, I am a direct descendant of Archibald Kincaid of Cumberland Co. Pa. He served in the Revolutionary War. with his brother, Andrew. I have the genealogy on both of them. and they descend from Alexander Kincaid b. ca. 1670 in Edinburgh, Scotland. There is a book titled Our Families by Larry J. Shook that traces from Alexander's father James, down. I also have a book compiled by James Kimble Young, Jr. He sent this copy to me. We descend from the same families. I used to be the coordinator of the kincaid group on rootsweb.com Many years ago. Alexander David William Thomas Alexander Kincaid's sons (4 of them) fought in the rear guard following Charles Stuart's retreat and were captured in the vicinity of kincaid. They were soon rescued and put aboard a ship at Glasgow where the wives of Samuel and George were waiting. They came to America in early 1746 and went to Augusta Co. Va. (my branch) David b. prob 1680 Scotland came to America in 1715. he is said to have settled in Spotsylvania Co. Va., later to Albermarle Co. then to Augusta co.. and died in Bath Co. Va. He is said to have had many descendants in Greenbrier Co. WV and that his son David Jr went to Kentucky after the REvolution William came to America 1715. nothing more is known about him. Thomas Kincaid b. Scotland d 1750 Augusta Co. md. Margaret ?. Thomas came to America 1715 to Lancaster Co. Pa. In 1747 he went to Augusta Co. Va. where he purchased 263 acres on the Calfpasture River. This land joined the 520 ac which David and John Kinkead purchased from Robert Lockridge in 1764. Thomas died intestate leaving a widow Margaret and some children. It seems to me that the ones that settled in Ohio are from a distinct branch of Kincaid. Now if we can just figure out who was the proginator it would help. Pat
