Change of date for this month only - The Washington County Genealogical Society will meet on February 26, 2005 (Saturday) at Second Congregational Church, SR 26 (1/4 mile beyond Broughton's Dairy), Marietta, OH from 2:00-4:00 pm. Beverly Schumacher, one of the best known genealogists in Ohio, will speak about "Genealogy in Athens County, OH." Beverly's interest in family history began in 1979 when she and her sister decided to find out more about their grandfather. In 1980 she was a founder of the Athens County Genealogical Chapter and served as President for the first three years. Beverly also founded First Families of Athens County and she is a volunteer genealogist for the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames of the 17th Century. In 1983 Beverly received an Award of Achievement for Outstanding Individual Achievement from the Ohio Association of Historical Societies & Museums for work on indexes, marriage records, cemetery records, and county atlases for the Athens County Historical Society & Museum. She is very proud that ACHS&M now has nearly 100 publications for sale. You won't want to miss this special program - guests are always welcome and there isn't any fee for our monthly meetings. See you on February 26th. Millie Covey Fry
