    2. They did not have death certificates; they had very large bound books, the same as their ancestors had in Europe. The basic information provided: a. Name b. Male/Female c. Date of Death d. Married/single/widowed e. Age (Years-Months-Days) f. Town or Township of Death g. Place of Birth h. Occupation i. Name of Father & Mother of children, especially if unnamed infants j. Color k. Disease, if applicable l. Place of Residence m. Remarks (seldom used) . These books were used into the early 20th Century in Monroe County. The CDs made by R. E. Harrington & the Monroe County Historical Society show this available data. They are for sale by the MC Historical Society for about $10 each.
